Avezzanoa city located in the heart of Abruzzo and close to welcoming the departure of the stage of Cycling Tour of Italy of May 12th, Avezzano-Napoli experienced a weekend truly full of sport and competition at the end of April. In recent days, in fact, the city hosted the Italian Local Police Road Race Championship, an event that attracted hundreds of athletes from all over Italy, including the islands.
The Italian Local Police Championship it took place in conjunction with the 10 km Stracittadina and the 21,097 km Fucino Half Marathon, on a Sunday in Abruzzo which surprised with summer temperatures and breathtaking scenery: snow-capped mountains as a backdrop and a lively and colorful atmosphere thanks to the pink jerseys of the athletes. The race also saw the participation of children, children of the Local Police of Avezzano, who cheered up the event with a colorful competition.
Among the athletes who ran for the glory of their Command, the name of stands out Emanuela Moauro, inspector of Velletri Local Police Command. Moauro, resident in Lariano, showed great determination, staying close to the leading group and arriving just seconds away from the podium. Although the competition was tight, Emanuela Moauro managed to place 5th overall and 1st° in its SF50 categorya result that demonstrates the high level of preparation and consistency in training, which can also be seen with the extraordinary results of recent years.
The successes of Moauro and the other Local Police athletes are the result of personal sacrifices and constant commitment to training. The ability to compete at these levels, while still doing one’s job of serving the community, is a merit that should be recognized and celebrated.
For Emanuela Moauro, the race was also an opportunity to share special moments with some of the team’s teammates Top Runners Castelli Romani, who accompanied her on the trip to Abruzzo.
