Corrado Giaquinto in the municipal library of Molfetta. The exhibition. The event

MOLFETTA – From 11 May to 16 June, the municipal library in the Fabbrica di San Domenico hosts an international exhibition. Twenty works by Corrado Giaquinto, a painter from Molfetta, one of the protagonists of the history of eighteenth-century European art, will be exhibited. Five of his master, Francesco Solimena, one of the greatest figures in the development of Baroque and Rococo. The exhibition, curated by prof. Gaetano Mongelli, is organized by the association for the diffusion of southern art, Partenope. Entrance is free. It avails itself of the patronage of the Municipality, department of culture, and the support of important private partners. «We strongly wanted to reconnect the threads of our history – the comment of the mayor Tommaso Minervini – with this exhibition by Corrado Giaquinto. We wanted it in the new, splendid municipal library. Jewel of the pride of the present with new innovated services so much so that within a few months of reopening it has become the pulsating center of the meeting of young people, children, enthusiasts. One of the many changes that enter the history of Molfetta.” All the works on display come from the Bonasia Collection and have long been acquired in private collections throughout Italy. «An exhibition – adds Mayor Minervini – made possible by some gentlemen of culture, by the intelligence of men who, gathered in the Partenope association, made the canvases available, making everyone and themselves experience that crackling of the joy of showing beauty, which is the nourishment of culture. And for Molfetta, a provincial city, to tell its story of energies that are all over the world.”
