THE EAGLE. The municipal council has adopted an “act of direction” relating to the new edition of the “Fridays in the centre” which will be held between the months of May and June, in the historic center of L’Aquila «and will be dedicated, as usual, to children and families”.
In the introduction it is underlined that «since 2021, and despite the health emergency measures due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the Municipality, in close collaboration with the cultural, social and entrepreneurial realities of the area, has proposed a broad cultural offering with a program that beginning of June to December saw a succession of initiatives at a national and international level, without excluding local artists, with significant participation in all the events, including some initiatives that involved the entire city, still encouraging aggregation and offering opportunities to enjoy high-level events. The implementation of the above-mentioned initiatives has continued to contribute to the revitalization of the economic and social fabric of the city centre, which has been repopulated during daytime and night time slots also in consideration of the increased tourist flows recorded in the last three years. As in previous years, and continuing in the wake of a path already started and which saw the participation of numerous families and children, young people and adults, L’Aquila people and tourists, it is the intention of the municipal administration to propose a new edition for 2024 as well of Fridays in the center at the opening of the summer season, before the start of the usual events of the Cantieri dell’Immaginario and della Perdonanza Celestiniana with the aim of continuing to offer opportunities for socialization and entertainment, through a diversified proposal of events within the most broad process of social reconstruction of the city. On the basis of the directions given, the administration intends to continue to make the historic center increasingly welcoming and attractive for all citizens, with particular attention to the target of families, taking into account the proposing of various events and initiatives suitable for children. On Fridays in the centre, the public purpose pursued and the related collective purpose are clearly evident, aimed at creating opportunities for meeting and leisure for citizens and tourists through direct interventions to enhance the associative realities also with a view to promoting and supporting the values and the traditions that contribute significantly to characterizing the city and its area, together with the valuable naturalistic-environmental, historical-cultural and monumental importance. This initiative is also aimed at reconstituting the post-earthquake socio-cultural fabric of the city.”
“The program of appointments will be announced shortly,” explained the mayor Pierluigi Biondi. «This year, compared to the past, we will start earlier with a program that will take place between May and June. A sort of prologue to the events of the L’Aquila summer, as usual characterized by the Cantieri dell’Immaginario review, open-air cinema, Celestine Perdonanza and jazz festival”. (gp)
