Yesterday at Villa Scarsella the Pedibus Festival: great success for the accompaniment service to school with the “smart grandparents” of Dianese

Yesterday in the Villa Scarsella Park the Pedibus Festival took place, an event which saw the awarding of prizes to the children who participated with perseverance and enthusiasm in the initiative. Organized by the education service of the Municipality of Diano Marina and aimed at students of the city’s primary schools, the event celebrated a project that promotes a healthy, ecological and joyful lifestyle. Thanks to Pedibus, every day, the children traveled the journey from their homes to school in the company of their precious “smart grandparents”. This daily journey has turned into a real moment of joy and sharing, strengthening the bond between adults and children. The care and affection shown during yesterday’s meeting in the park of Villa Scarsella confirmed the importance of initiatives that encourage intergenerational meetings. Yesterday’s event was an opportunity to thank all those who made the project possible, including the 18 volunteers, 13 of whom worked daily following a monthly shift. Parents showed trust by entrusting their children to the care of capable grandparents, while the Comprehensive Institute supported and promoted the initiative with enthusiasm. The Councilor for Education, Sabrina Mexico, expressed her gratitude to the supporting associations, including Anteas provinciale, represented by Mr. Fausto Sabatini, Anna Lo Vecchio, Giuseppe Benanti, Auser Imperia, and Auser Diano Marina, represented by Mr. Matteo Lanteri, Katia Zucchini and Giovacchino Carli, together with all the volunteer grandparents who have reached the number of 412 school accompaniment services for Pedibus. The Pedibus service is just one of the initiatives of the broader project promoted by the Municipality “Nonno in gamba”, which also included the presence of volunteers at the pedestrian crossings at the exit from school, surveillance in the park of Villa Scarsella and the accompaniment to the school bus, for a total of almost two thousand services in the 2023/24 school year. For those who wish to participate in the Pedibus project next school year, it is possible to book by filling out the form available on the Municipality website and at the municipal offices. The service is free and can be used as a pre-school, giving busy parents the chance to entrust their children to smart grandparents as early as 8:00 in the morning. “The Pedibus confirms itself as an educational project of great value, which encourages aggregation, the development of children’s autonomy and their knowledge of the area” declared Mexico. “This healthy, joyful and ecological way of going to school represents an example of how small local initiatives can have a big impact on the whole community. The Pedibus Festival has demonstrated once again how collaboration between different generations and institutions can create a positive and educational social environment for the little ones, teaching them the importance of sustainability and a sense of community”.
