there is the hypothesis stopped at the Rocca dei Rettori

Bus terminalnow we look for the stop for i tourists. Having outlined the solution for the students, it is now necessary to identify a point intended for buses of visitors coming from other locations. A need that will arise immediately upon closure of the current parking area via Pertininotoriously affected by the redevelopment works of the maxi-project Piazza Risorgimento-La Salle. And therefore already for the month of July, the presumable start date of the construction site, a different option will have to be available that can accommodate the caravans brought into the city by tour operators. Not very large numbers, actually, since a lot of the incoming flows are made up of small groups or families. But a reference point dedicated to the vehicles that accompany tourists is still essential.

THE SCENERY

Theme to which Mosti Palace has been working for some time. And the casting of the possible options on the table led to the identification of a location that could represent an optimal solution for visitors: «We believe there is the possibility of setting up a stop area in the area in front of the Rocca dei Rettori – anticipates the Transport Councilor Luigi Ambrosone – We think it is possible to use part of the space that is currently intended for parking cars along the series of metal posts that delimit the pedestrian area. But together with the technicians we are also checking the possibility of using the upper part of the same pedestrian area for this purpose, near Viale degli Atlantici. The buses could thus make a short stop for rapid descent and ascent, leaving travelers in the immediate vicinity of the most important tourist sites in the upper area of the historic centre. An arrangement that would virtuously integrate the other short stop point created at the entrance to Corso Garibaldi, near the infopoint in Piazza Cardinal Pacca”.

Truly suggestive option: go down to the foot of the Rocca, having the skyline in sight Corso Garibaldi with the bell tower of Hagia Sophia, it could be an intoxicating feeling for arriving travellers. However, it is necessary to deal with the difficulties associated with the transit of bulky vehicles, a problem regulated by the union ordinance which from 2020 prohibits tourist buses from entering the historic center. Aspect addressed by Ambrosone: «If we were to focus on the area near the Rocca dei Rettori to create a stop, it is clear that we will modify the 2020 ordinance to update it in light of this new need. We have already identified in principle a route to be assigned to tourist buses: the lower part of Viale degli Atlantici, turn left onto Via Ferrelli, travel along Via De Caro, turn onto Via Calandra and then join the road network already prescribed by the ordinance. in force which conducts buses along via Martiri di Nassiriya, via Posillipo, up to the area near via Munazio Planco where tourists are made to board after having visited the entire historic center and the Roman Theatre. However, this is an option that we will look into in the coming days and which we will present to the sector companies and trade unions for an appropriate discussion”.

THE STUDENTS

Solution that now appears to be defined regarding the stopping of students in the upper area. Rotonda delle Scienze, behind the Calandra educational centre, is the option identified a month ago by councilor Ambrosone, and is now also receiving the approval of the technicians. Confirmation in the commission on Thursday, also with respect to the possibility of creating a preferential lane for buses on via Mustilli approaching the stopping point. The stalls that can be obtained in the area could thus be as many as 7 or 8, so as to allow the appropriate replacement of buses arriving at peak times. The reorganization will be completed with another stopping point in the lower area in via Paolo Diacono, near the central station, and with the main parking in the large internal courtyard of the Coni headquarters.
