The race turns 50: starting on Sunday 5 May from Piazza Duomo, you will cross the avenues up to Piazza Michelangelo. The measures of the Municipality
You run through the historic center of Florence, cross the avenues and climb up to the Piazzale Michelangelo. It’s the Guarda Firenze, the foot race that turns the lights off this year 50 candles and which invites runners to run with their noses upwards admiring streets, buildings and works of art next Sunday, May 5th.
The event has character sporting-educational and its primary objective is to promote knowledge of history of Florence through the usual tourist-sports run/walk through the streets of the city. The objectives also include the promotion of healthy lifestyles in a sports event for all, with particular focus on school children.
Two routes available to runners: the 10 km recreational motor race and the Mini Guarda Firenze of approximately 3 km.
Departure (at 9.30am) and arrival (by 2pm) in Piazza Duomo.
The measures of Palazzo Vecchio
Many measures have been put in place for circulation.
Let’s start to midnight on Saturday with parking restrictions on the riversides at Thank youfrom the Old Mint (Arno side), Pecori Giraldi (Arno side), in viale Poggi (section between the two ramps connecting to the terrace of Piazzale Michelangiolo), via Ser Ventura Monachi (section on the even house numbers side), via dei Bastioni (numbers side the same stretch between via Ser Ventura and number 5) with an expected deadline of 2pm.
At 7am on Sunday (until 1pm) parking and transit bans in Piazza del Duomo, San Giovanni square and via dei Pecori (between via Vecchietti and piazza San Giovanni).
At 8am it will be the turn of parking bans on the route and at 9.15 those in transit along the route, namely:
piazza San Giovanni-via Roma-piazza della Repubblica-via Calimala-piazza del Mercato Nuovo-via Por Santa Maria-lungarno Acciaiuoli-lungarno Corsini-piazza Goldoni-via della Vigna Nuova-via degli Strozzi-piazza della Repubblica-via Roma-piazza San Giovanni-piazza Duomo-via del Proconsolo-piazza San Firenze-via dei Gondi-piazza della Signoria-via della Ninna-via dei Neri-via dei Benci-lungarno delle Grazie-lungarno della Zecca Vecchia-lungarno Pecori Giraldi-Ponte San Niccolò -piazza Ferrucci-viale Michelangiolo-piazzale Michelangelo-viale Poggi-via dei Bastioni-via Ser Ventura Monachi-via della Fornace-lungarno Cellini– Piazza Poggi – Lungarno Serristori – Ponte alle Grazie – Lungarno Generale Diaz – Piazza dei Giudici – Lungarno Luisa de Medici – Lungarno degli Archibusieri – Piazza del Pesce – Via Por Santa Maria – Via Vecchereccia – Piazza della Signoria – Via del Calzaiuoli – Piazza San Giovanni (arrival).
All side roads converging on the route will be closed.
To safeguard runners during the race, safety measures will be established protected lanes on the Lungarno della Zecca Vecchia, on the Ponte San Niccolò and on the Lungarno Serristori.
In via Porta Rossa there will be a reversal of the direction of travel from Via Pellicceria towards Piazza Davanzati and in Ponte alla Carraia a ban on transit from Lungarno Guicciardini towards Piazza Goldoni.
No transit (after 9.15am) in Viale Galileo (for the Piazzale Galileo-Viale Michelangelo route only), in Lungarno Cellini (on the Ponte San Niccolò-Piazza Poggi route only) while Via di San Niccolò in the Via San Miniato-Piazza Poggi section will become road without background until 11.30.
