“The Region acts as guarantor for citizens”

ABRUZZO. “The alternatives proposed by committees and municipalities on the project for the various lots of the Rome-Pescara railway doubling are possible, but the Region does not know them thoroughly and, for this reason, does not represent them. We want to carry out a broad phase of knowledge and discussion so that the possible variations can lighten the impact of the work on some sections of the line and thus also reduce inconveniences and protests”, this is the intention of the PD group leader in the regional council Silvio Paolucci and by councilor Antonio Di Marco, highlighted today at a meeting held in San Giovanni Teatino, one of the municipalities most affected by the works, at the invitation of the local PD club.

“In listening to the territorial problems linked to railway upgrading in our region, it is clear at this point that the weakness lies in the lack of clear knowledge that the administrative structures actually have of the situation – so councilor Di Marco, vice-president of the II Infrastructure Commission -. We need a debate that proposes a synthesis of the possible solutions and we must proceed as soon as possible through an exclusively technical analysis, which the Region must deal with, without evading the problem or relying on the evaluations of others. This is what I will ask for as vice-president of the Commission: that a practical and realistic examination of the planning be undertaken, to reach conclusions for and in the territory”.

“It is important to foster a discussion that was missing in the first phase of presentation of the project – so the PD group leader Silvio – the PD will promote in every way this inevitable action of knowledge of the alternatives, so that the requests of the territories are not considered obstacles to the work: by eliminating the major critical issues through the proposed changes, no one will oppose the project. Such an important intervention cannot be imposed from above.”
