An ambulance surrounded by several municipal police officers. This is the scenario that citizens were able to notice around 1.15pm close to the Ciaravolo municipal villa on Corso Vittorio Emanuele, in the heart of the city center of Torre del Greco.

It was all due to one brawl broke out shortly before between two people near the park recently undergoing major redevelopment works. In broad daylight and under the eyes of dozens of people present, many of whom hastily decided to leave out of fear. One of the contenders came out the worst (whose details were not disclosed), who was injured on the ground before help arrived, called to the scene by those who had witnessed the scene.

Loaded into the ambulance, the man was given the necessary first aid directly on site before being transferred to hospital, where the injured man was taken care of by the doctors on duty. Various abrasions but, from what we learn, no serious injuries.

Investigations are now underway by the police, who have also had the opportunity to listen to some witnesses and asked to acquire images of video surveillance of the facilities present in the area of the brawl.

The episode, however, reignites the protest over the state of security of the villa, often the subject of vandalism raids and attacks which in some circumstances have even involved very young and elderly people. We remember the case of a student savagely attacked by a woman gang of kids in the areaof the elevator that connects the villa to Piazzale Cesare Battisti, with the victim suffering a serious injury to his eye. Instead, an old woman was forced to go to hospital with a broken arm and was pushed to the ground by a thug, who later ended up in prison for other similar episodes. «Unfortunately, cases of violence are repeated – say some regular visitors to the park named after the gold medal for military valor Vincenzo Ciaravolo – and we are also worried about our safety. We hope that something can be done to stem this worrying escalation of crime that involves this area.”
