Four cases of scams targeting the elderly were reported to the Carabinieri between Agrigento, Canicattì and Ravanusa.
In Agrigento, a man, posing as the lawyer of the victim of a road accident caused by the daughter of an 85-year-old woman, obtained the delivery of 2,000 euros and several gold jewels from the pensioner. And then a fake policeman obtained 750 euros and various gold objects from a 74 year old woman to avoid legal trouble for her son who was involved in a serious road accident that never happened.
In Canicattì, two men, qualifying themselves as carabiniere and lawyer, induced a 71-year-old to hand over money and gold objects for a total of 22,000 euros, with the excuse of avoiding legal trouble for the pensioner’s nephew, accused of having caused a serious road accident.
In Ravanusa, a man, posing as a soldier, received 4,000 euros, a ring and a gold necklace from a 77-year-old woman under the pretext of paying a fine for the woman’s son.
