Two weeks of international music with Novara Jazz

After the success of the twentieth edition, NovaraJazz returns renewing the formula of two intense weekends capable of uniting music, art and territory, with its historical, artistic and food and wine excellences. Over 100 artists involved, with international participation, Italian talents and
especially new projects by WeStart, the Music Production Center of Eastern Piedmont, for a
total of over 40 appointments.

The program of solos, in fascinating places such as churches, palaces and museums, will also see busy people
Guus Janssen on organ and Filippo Vignato on trombone. Great space for the Italian scene, with the
jazz/hip hop by Studio Murena, the energy of Savana Funk, Federica Michisanti’s quartet
(fresh winner of TopJazz), Costanza Alegiani’s homage to Lucio Dalla, tellKujira and new
projects of the Production Center such as Ferdinando Romano Invisible Painters, the trio The Elephant
by Mitelli/Mirra/Calcagnile, the um/welt project by Marco Centasso and the unpredictable Tendha. Yes
he will also dance with Tamashi Pigiama, with a series of DJ sets and with the swing of Erios Junior Jazz
Orchestra, in a program in which the now very lively Street Jazz program will not be missing
in the historic center of Novara with over 80 young musicians from ten Italian conservatories
for a music marathon in the city.

First Weekend: May 31st – June 2nd
As tradition, NJ’s opening weekend is entirely dedicated to discovering the area
Novara in its food and wine excellences and in its rich historical-artistic heritage, with
a series of thematic itineraries that are articulated through the musical proposal.
NovaraJazz is above all research and dialogue between different forms of artistic expression, that’s why
the inaugural event on Friday 31 May will be the vernissage to present the exhibition, curated by
Luciano Rossetti, by the historic photographer Carlo Verri, who with his project “I took jazz for the
queue” will retrace over twenty-five years of shots that have immortalized hundreds of musicians in
around the world (from 6pm in the Sala dell’Accademia of the Giannoni Gallery), to then continue the
evening with the jam session organized in collaboration with the Dedalo Music School (from 11.00 pm)
a nòva, a recovered space in the city that NovaraJazz has long chosen as a place for music.
For the twenty-first edition, the itinerant weekend among the places and landscapes of the Novara area will focus
in six appointments, curated like small pearls immersed in the historical-artistic beauties of the
province. We start with the day dedicated to the Antonellian route, starting from Villa Caccia di
Romagnano Sesia, Saturday 1 June, together with the Tellkujira (12 pm), to then move to Maggiora,
at Villa Antonelli, where at 5.30pm Costanza Alegiani and her Folkways project together with Valerio
Corzani will guide us on a journey dedicated to Lucio Dalla, from his first steps up to Roversi. The day
it ends in Oleggio, whose parish church is a project by Antonelli, at Soul Bar, immersed
in Parco Beldì, Tamashi Pigiama, winners of Taste of Jazz 2023, will mix jazz, hip-hop,
electronic and afrobeat (9.15 pm).
Sunday 2 June will be full of events starting in the morning, with the traditional Biciclettata Tappa
Jazz! in collaboration with Fiab and Amici della Bici Novara, which meets at 10 am in Piazza Duomo
in Novara they will follow the musical itinerary of the day, which will start from Villa Picchetta in Cameri, headquarters
of the Ticino Park, to discover the intimate and fascinating dialogue of the solo instrument together with
Louis Sclavis, Jacopo Ferrazza and Vincent Courtois (1pm), while the little ones can explore the
Sounds of the Garden with the Jazz Kids workshop program (12pm). The first weekend ends on
Federica Michisanti Quartet at the Castello di Cavagliano (7pm), led by the double bass player and
