The Messina Traffic Police Section has intensified control operations in compliance with the regulations relating to road safety at construction sites along the A18 Messina – Catania motorway. This effort was made by virtue of the Memorandum of Understanding signed by the Ministry of the Interior in collaboration with the Ministry of Infrastructure, in order to guarantee the safety of both users and workers involved in the works.
Today, inspections were carried out at various construction sites along the motorway stretch, located in the province of Messina. During one of these checks, an irregular construction site was discovered, on which immediate corrective measures were taken. An administrative fine of €1,732.00 was imposed and the construction site’s activities were immediately suspended.
In accordance with current legislation, the restoration of regular conditions was ordered to guarantee public safety and free movement.
Antonio Capodicasa, Director of the Messina Traffic Police Section, declared that the control and prevention action will be extended in the coming weeks, including interventions aimed at road safety such as this one. The patrols will continue to carefully monitor the compliance of the construction sites along the routes under their jurisdiction.
