MESTRE – He had already been arrested the day after a double robbery episode, which took place on 13 April towards the end of Corso del Popolo. He had been recognized by the security cameras distributed by the Municipality in the city and then also by some witnesses. During the investigations, however, the judicial police had provided the Public Prosecutor’s Office with information to also attribute a third episode to him, dating back to a month earlier and having the same bar as the victim and using the same methods.

Thus, the Carabinieri of Operational and mobile radio unit of the Mestre Company they carried out the execution of a precautionary measure order issued by the judge for the preliminary investigations against him, picking him up in Marghera at the house where he was domiciled. He is a 48-year-old Italian, resident in the province of Naples. A person who was already known in the area for a series of episodes and violent acts.

THE STORY
The incident happened around 6pm on April 13th in Caffè Tivoli, which is on the corner of Via Mestrina. The man had stormed into the place run for years by a Chinese couple. With a knife in hand he had ordered Miky, the owner, to give him the proceeds, holding a knife to his throat. When he refused, she punched him in the face, causing serious injuries. Then, having taken the cash which had around 800 euros inside him, he fled on a scooter, losing the knife used to threaten the bartender, which was found not far away by the police.
Shortly before, around 5.45pm, the same subject had snatched the cell phone from a tourist who was walking along the sidewalk that runs along the gardens of Via Piave. The woman ended up on the ground after hitting her left cheekbone against a car. According to some witnesses, the 48-year-old was wearing a black T-shirt, knee-length jeans and had short, graying hair.
The investigative activity carried out by the Carabinieri also made it possible to identify the same man as the perpetrator of another robbery also against the Tivoli bar, which took place in March.
Thus, after having collected the proverbial “serious indications of guilt”, the Prosecutor’s Office asked for a restrictive measure, which the investigating judge granted and the man is now in the Santa Maria Maggiore prison.
