Tomorrow, May 5th, the “Guarda Firenze” returns, the second oldest running event in the city organized by the Atletica Firenze Marathon company, now in its 50th edition. The event will begin and end in Piazza Duomo with departures at 9.30. The collection of the bib for those registered online can take place on Sunday morning starting from 8 in Piazza Duomo. The race includes two routes, one of 10 kilometers and one of 3.
10 kilometer route
The route will see participants walk along Piazza San Giovanni (corner of Via Martelli), then Via Roma, Piazza Della Repubblica, Via Calimala, Piazza Del Mercato Nuovo, Via Por Santa Maria, Lungarno Acciaiuoli, Lungarno Corsini, Piazza Goldoni, Via Della Vigna Nuova, Via Degli Strozzi, Piazza Della Repubblica, Via Roma, Piazza San Giovanni (Via Martelli side), Piazza Duomo (Via Dei Servi side), Via Del Proconsolo, Piazza Di San Firenze, Via Dei Gondi, Piazza Signoria, Via Della Ninna, Via Dei Leoni, Via Dei Neri, Via Dei Benci, Lungarno Delle Grazie, Lungarno Della Zecchia Vecchia, Ponte San Niccolo’, Piazza Ferrucci, Viale Michelangiolo, Piazzale Michelangelo, Viale Giuseppe Poggi, Via Dei Bastioni, Piazzetta Di San Miniato, Via Di San Miniato, Via Di S. Niccolo’, Via Lupo, Lungarno Serristori, Piazza Nicola Demidoff, Lungarno Serristori, Ponte Alle Grazie, Lungarno Generale Diaz, Lungarno Luisa De Medici, Via Por Santa Maria, Via Vaccherreccia, Piazza Signoria, Via Calzaiuoli and Piazza Saint John.
3 kilometer route
The route of the mini Guarda Firenze will always start from Piazza San Giovanni (Corner of Via Martelli) and continue along Via Roma, Piazza Della Repubblica, Via Calimala, Piazza Del Mercato Nuovo, Via Por Santa Maria, Lungarno Acciaiuoli, Lungarno Corsini, Piazza Goldoni, Via Della Vigna Nuova, Via Degli Strozzi, Piazza Della Repubblica, Via Roma, Piazza San Giovanni (Via Martelli side), Piazza Duomo (Via Dei Servi, Misericordia side) and Piazza Duomo.
Traffic measures
From midnight there will be parking bans on the Arno river at the Grazie, della Zecca Vecchia (Arno side), Pecori Giraldi (Arno side), in viale Poggi (between the two ramps connecting to the terrace of piazzale Michelangiolo), via Ser Ventura Monachi ( section on the even-numbered side), via dei Bastioni (even-numbered side, section between via Ser Ventura and street number 5) with an expected deadline of 2pm.
From 7am to 1pm parking and transit bans in Piazza del Duomo, Piazza di San Giovanni and Via dei Pecori (between Via Vecchietti and Piazza San Giovanni).
From 8am, however, there will be no parking bans on the route and at 9.15am there will be no transit bans along the route, while all side roads converging on the route will be closed.
Further measures from 9 to 11: closure of the Lungarno of the Zecca Vecchia between Via delle Casine and Piazza Cavalleggeri, with a protected lane only for the route from Piazza Piave to Via delle Casine. The lane will also be established on Ponte San Niccolò only for the route from Piazza Ferrucci to Lungarno del Tempio and Lungarno Serristori.
