Bank robbery in Naples, employees and customers kidnapped for 40 minutes: a couple arrested

A 38-year-old man and his 40-year-old partner were tracked down and arrested by the police an hour after the robbery, which took place in a bank in Chiaiano.

When a man and a woman together turn to crime, it is easy to recall the story of Bonnie and Clyde, the pair of robbers who held the United States in check in the 1930s. And the story that unfolded in Naples vaguely resembles that of the two American criminals. We are in a bank in via Emilio Scaglione, Chiaiano district, northern suburbs of the Campania capital. A man bursts into the branch armed with a gun and knife, while his partner waits outside, acting as a lookout. Employees and customers come seized for 40 minutesthe time to wait for the ATM’s timed safe to be unlocked: at that point, the two criminals escape with a loot of around 12 thousand euros.

The Carabinieri of the Operational Unit of the Vomero company and those of the Marianella station intervened on site. They review the images from the video surveillance cameras and it doesn’t take them long to recognize them GM, 38 year old already known to the police and subjected to house arrest; they also recognize his partner, GA, 40 years. The police track down the two in their home: inside the hat and balaclava used during the robbery, a blank revolver with 25 cartridges and 1,520 euros believed to be illicit proceeds. The couple was arrested and is in prison, at the disposal of the competent judicial authority.
