The route of the Giro d’Italia 2024 extends over 21 stagesto face from 4 to 26 Mayfor a total of 3,400.8 km And 44,650 meters of altitude difference. Afterwards, the pink caravan heads north again, with three undulating stages that lead to the Tour in the Marche. In Riccione-Cento the sprinters will be protagonists, just before tackling the flat Castiglione delle Stiviere-Desenzano del Garda time trial. Stage 15 from Manerba del Garda to Livigno will be decidedly more challengingwith climbs in Lodrino, Colle San Zeno, Mortirolo, Passo di Foscagno and Mottolino di Livigno.

The third week of the Giro d’Italia starts again from Livigno with a mountainous stage through Passo d’Eira, Passo del Foscagno, Passo dello Stelvio (Cima Coppi), Passo Pinei and Monte Pana. And the next day it’s even tougher, the sequence of mountain Grands Prix to overcome will be Sella, Rolle, Gobbera and double Passo Brocon. Just enough time to catch your breath with a transfer stage arriving in Padua, and then straight away the final two days which include Passo Duron, Sella Valcalda and Cima Sappada, followed by the ascent to Monte Grappa. The Rome catwalk will conclude the Pink race on May 26th.

Giro d’Italia 2024: who can win it?

At the starting line of the 107th edition of the Giro d’Italia, we find 22 teams and 176 riders. The absence of Wout van Aert, recovering from 9 fractures, does not diminish the enthusiasm or the sense of anticipation, with one name to follow above all: Tadej Pogacar, number 1 in the UCI World Ranking. The Vintage novelty of the Giro d’Italia 2024

The 2024 edition of the Corsa Rosa also gives us a return to the past, with the reintroduction of the Intergiro Ranking. From 1989 to 2006, during the Giro d’Italia the Intergiro accessory classification, recognizable by the blue jersey, mainly animated the less intense stages, with an intermediate finish line usually positioned halfway through the route.

As in the past, this year too the flying finish line it will not only concern the attackers, but also the riders fighting for the general classification, awarding time bonuses (3”, 2” and 1”) to the first three to pass. The top eight will also earn points (12, 8, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1), contributing to the overall points classification.
