“Last April 15th the commission examining the tender for the identification of the new director of the Arezzo Intour Foundation made its decision: why does the tourism councilor – as well as president of the aforementioned Foundation – not communicate the name of the new director to the city? After I was prevented twice in the city council from explaining my question on the selection notice for the hiring of the new director of the Arezzo Intour Foundation, on March 28, 2024 I was able to express my doubts about some aspects of this announcement.”
Michele Menchetti, municipal councilor of the 5 Star Movement, takes a stand and expresses his doubts as follows:
“The first is linked to the duration of the tender, from 20 December 2023 to 4 January 2024, i.e. just fifteen days between the Christmas holidays: a very short period of time which certainly did not contribute to ensuring that a greater number of potential candidates could participate. And in fact in the end only two applications were admitted. The second concerns the remuneration of the new director: in a delicate historical moment for many people, it seemed totally out of place to raise his salary up to 90 thousand euros against the current 50 thousand euros. that the municipal official seconded to the foundation received was related to the possibility that the current director, i.e. the seconded municipal official, had also participated in this tender.”
Interviews of the only two candidates took place on 15 February and after two months the commission concluded its work. The tourism councilor and president of the Foundation, instead of using intimidating tones against the undersigned simply for daring to ask uncomfortable questions, provide the people of Arezzo with the identity of the new director. Or should we think it’s a state secret?”
