Alessandria 856: the “Gran Gagliaudo d’Oro” to Antonio Maconi

ALEXANDRIA – Alexandria celebrates its 856 years with a “Great Golden Gagliaudo” to Dr Antonio Maconi.

856 years from the date of 3 May 1168 identified – as the mayor emeritus recalled Mara Scagni during the open city council meeting – “from Umberto Eco and the professor Pestarino because May is the month of rebirth and the 3rd is the day after the workers’ celebrations”.

A day, today, began with the mass in the cathedral officiated by the bishop Guido Gallese and with the delivery of municipal honors at Palazzo Rosso.

Maconi: “Starting point”

Touched by the recognition, previously also delivered to Umberto Ecodoctor Antonio Maconipresident of Solidal Onlus and director of the Integrated Research and Innovation Activities Department (Dairi) of the Aou Al.

“I thank those who thought of me – his words – I think it is a recognition to my commitment and that of many people to try to give meaning to the fact of being member of a community. So much has been built in different sectors and even working for the 850th anniversary of the city there was the opportunity to make contributions. It’s still a start pointdespite my white hair.”

The party continues

The city festival, however, will continue in the afternoon: at 4.15pm in the Municipal Court unveiling ceremony of the work-installation “9 chairs” (1993) – “Indefinito” series – by the contemporary artist from Alessandria Carlo Ciarli. With musical tribute from the Civica musical band “G. Canton”.

Afterwards, transfer to the Civic Museum of Palazzo Cuttica (via Parma 1) where, at 5pmwill be held the inauguration of the exhibition of the glazed terracotta work “San Giorgio” (1931-1938) by Lucio Fontana. Part of the Civic Museum collections and never exhibited to the public in recent times. One of the most beautiful – and unexpected – surprises of the “San Giorgio 2024” program.

As a corollary, a work by the Alessandria artist will also be exhibited Mario Fallini entitled “Lucio Fontana”, which is intended as a tribute by the author to the great artist. Cuts and holes transform an image into a text, becoming the Morse alphabet with which Fallini writes on the work “Lucio Fontana”…

Finally, at 6pm, in the tensile structure set up in the Lega square for the food and wine “San Giorgio” dedicated this year to the agnolotto – 32 participating venues with dedicated menus for the whole weekend – it will come Eleonora Risothe winner of Masterchef 2024. A space, the one in the shadow of the Obelisk, which both tomorrow and Sunday will be animated by agricultural associations with workshops, show cooking, tastings and tastings.
