Leonardo Massa, Vice President Southern Europe of the cruise division of the MSC Group, declared: Such high numbers testify to the strategic nature and growing tourist-cultural importance of Sardinia also for the cruise sector. The island has always been one of the most popular destinations for our passengers, especially in the summer period. In 2024 we expect stopovers in Cagliari all year round, also focusing strongly on seasonally adjusted tourism, which fully enhances the unparalleled beauty of the city and the entire Sardinian territory.

The summer cruise season in Casteddu will officially begin on Sunday 19 May with the first call of the MSC Musica, a cruise ship featuring cutting-edge design and over 1,000 cabins with balconies. MSC Musica will stop in the Sardinian port every Sunday, for the entire summer season, with around 3,000 passengers on board who will experience a fascinating seven-day journey in the Mediterranean with stops in Cagliari, Civitavecchia, Genoa, Cannes, Barcelona and Ibiza. For the Sardinian port system, 2024 is preparing to become an absolute record year says Massimo Deiana, President of the AdSP of the Sea of Sardinia. An exciting result that we have achieved thanks also to the trust that the cruise companies, in particular the MSC, have wanted to give us with a consistent and constant annual schedule of ports of call, the result of intense promotional activity and constructive discussion to find the best solutions for long-lasting growth increasingly oriented towards overcoming the narrow limits of seasonality. A favorable synergy which sees us constantly committed to making the relevant ports increasingly welcoming and functional for a market characterized by naval gigantism and environmental sustainability.
