Sunday in Pisa to cradle a dream
In the eighteenth round of the return round, Federico Valente’s FC Südtirol will be on stage at the Arena Garibaldi-Romeo Anconetani in a match with three important points up for grabs for both teams in the chase for the playoffs. Kick-off at 3.00pm
After having won three precious points in the exciting home match against Ternana last Wednesday, which allowed them to secure – with two rounds to spare – their stay in the category with the backing of mathematics, the red and whites are preparing to face the 19th and last trip.
FC Südtirol in the 37th round, 18th of the second round with an asymmetric calendar of the 2023-2024 Serie BKT championship will be on stage at the Arena Garibaldi-Romeo Anconetani Stadium to meet Pisa. Kick-off at 3pm on Sunday 5 May.
Mister Federico Valente’s team achieved the main objective of the season, namely salvation, two days before the end of the cadet championship. The success in the gripping and exciting home match against Ternana allows the red and white club to look forward to the third season in a row in Serie B and to play the last two matches, respectively in Pisa and against Palermo, with the possibility of even cradling the dream playoffs.
In fact, looking ahead in the standings, FCS is currently in ninth position with 46 points, together with Reggiana, two points behind Brescia, currently in the eighth and last place to access the playoffs and three points behind Sampdoria.
Pisa, fresh from the stoppage suffered on the Cremonese pitch, is one point behind the red and whites, in condominium with Cosenza and Cittadella. The last two days will be decisive.
STATE OF SHAPE
FC Südtirol: not placed in the standings with 46 points in 36 matches, the result of 12 wins and 10 draws, 14 stops, 44 goals scored and 45 conceded, of which 20 points in 18 away matches: 5 wins, 5 draws and 8 stops with 21 goals scored and 25 conceded; 11th overall performance away from home. The red and whites come from the precious 4-3 success on Wednesday against Ternana.

Pisa: 12th place in the standings with 45 points (like Cittadella and Cosenza), 11 wins, 12 draws and 13 stops, 48 goals scored and 50 conceded, of which 25 points in 18 home matches: 6 wins, 7 draws, 5, 28 goals scored and 25 scored, tenth overall internal performance.
Coach: Alberto Aquilani, 39 year old Roman, already a midfielder with over one hundred matches for Roma, has worn the shirts of Triestina, Liverpool, Juventus. Milan, Fiorentina, Sporting Lisbon, Pescara, Sassuolo and Las Palmas. On 26 February 2006 he scored the second goal in the Roma-Lazio 2-0 derby which gave Spalletti’s team their eleventh consecutive victory in the championship (first team to set this record). With Roma he won an Italian Cup and a national Super Cup. From 2000 to 2007 he made 61 appearances for the Italian youth national teams and from 2006 to 2014 38 for the senior national team. Coach since 2019: first the Under 18s, then technical collaborator and coach of the Fiorentina Primavera team, he has led Pisa since last summer.

Andrea Cisco, twenty-five year old red and white striker, he wore the black and blue jersey in the last championship (3 appearances). Andrea Cagnano, A short twenty-five year old winger, he wore the Pisa shirt in Serie C from January to June 2018 (3 appearances).
HEAD TO HEAD
Teams: three previous ones, i.e. the two matches of the last championship and the first leg of the current tournament: 4 September 2022 FCS-Pisa 2-1. The away team took the lead with Ionita in the 24th minute, then a brace from a penalty by Matteo Rover, who scored in the 35th minute of the first half and in the 18th minute of the second half to give FC Südtirol their first, historic victory in Serie B.
