There are four precautionary custody orders carried out by the agents of the Brescia Traffic Police in collaboration with the soldiers of the Financial Police and the Brescia Provincial Police, against as many people for having set up a criminal association aimed at obtaining, in fraudulent manner, type B driving licenses and driver qualification cards for professional driving of heavy goods vehicles.
The investigations began following a series of interventions carried out by the traffic police at the Civil Motorization Office of Brescia where dozens of candidates were reported because they were found in possession of electronic equipment used to receive external suggestions during exams.
The existence of a criminal group then emerged, headed by the owner of four driving schools, specialized in producing false certificates of participation of candidates in the compulsory training course by then equipping them with microcameras and miniaturized earphones connected to an external prompter who would then provided the correct answers during the relevant exam.
The owner of the driving schools, subjected to a search by the Provincial agents, was found in possession of one million euros in cash, a discovery which aroused the suspicion of the Guardia di Finanza soldiers who ascertained the disproportion between the declared incomes and the assets owned by arriving then to seize the money.
The crimes for which precautionary measures were carried out are criminal association, corruption, incitement to corruption and numerous forgery of public documents. The special crime of taking driving tests using prompting systems was also charged.
The members of the criminal organization were served with a precautionary custody order in prison, two orders of house arrest and one requiring them to report to the judicial police.
There are more than 60 people under investigation, all people who used the illicit service in order to obtain irregular licenses without having to take the exams themselves or without attending the mandatory training courses to obtain the special license for heavy vehicles.
