The closure of the ‘Bilingual’ primary school in Benevento, announced for June, has raised concern among the students’ parents. The decision was made due to the small number of enrollments, only 66 out of 170 current students, making maintaining the institution unsustainable.

The school director, Professor Giuseppe Ciampa, sent a letter to the families communicating the decision and explaining that there are no conditions for continuing the school’s activity. The school secretariat will remain open until June 30th to facilitate the transfer of students to other schools.

This announcement has led parents to worry about their children’s educational future and the difficult placement in other already established schools. Despite an agreement previously reached with parents to raise fees and keep the school open, it appears that was not enough to ensure its continuation for another school year.

The ‘Bilingual’ school has been a point of reference for many Samnite families for almost fifty years, known for its high quality and innovative approach to teaching. He introduced the use of tablets in the classroom and placed a strong emphasis on learning foreign languages, including English, Spanish and Chinese. It has also experimented with partnership projects with international schools and universities, promoting communication and intercultural understanding.
