A success in terms of numbers, quality and content. A great May 1st celebration under the net and on the sand. The Masterball Academy is staging another stage of the Italian club championship a week later, the penultimate before the Italian final in Bibione, in the splendid location of the Capannine in Catania.
FRANCO AREZZO AND GERI NDRECAJ SUPER. The Top Team, led by Dario Giuffrida, wins once again in the Gold category. This time in the final Franco Arezzo and Geri Ndrecaj win 2-1 over Giuliano Andronico and Marco Di Franco, a couple who are growing rapidly. Arezzo-Ndrecaj win the first, lose the second with advantages (14-16) and win the third at 8. On the podium are Seby Litrico and Sebastiano Cavalli who beat Federico and Giosué Andronico.
GRAZIELLA LO RE-ROSSANA GUELI. Graziella Lo Re (Italian champion in 2011) and Rossana Gueli (formerly libero of Ardens Comiso and Accademia Messina) won 2-0 over Dalila D’Alessandro and Carla Pezzinga. Third place for Selene Richiusa and Elide Bontorno, victorious 2-0 over Egle Solarino and Carola Murgano.
GABRIELE DI GRAZIA AND ANDREA DI FRANCO FIRST IN SILVER. A beautiful final characterized the Silver Men. Victory for Gabriele Di Grazia and Andrea Di Franco who are right 2-1 (18-16 in the third) over Federico Testa and Alessandro Melia. Third place for Marco Chiesa and Giuseppe Bazzano who did well to prevail over Mattia Bombace and Carmelo Tidona.
ALESSANDRA ORTO AND CRISTINA IMPALLOMENI FIRST IN THE SILVER WOMEN. Nice section in women’s silver. Victory for Alessandra Orto and Cristina Impallomeni over Chiara Giorgianni and Paola Rotella. In the final on the podium Marilena Terranova and Nadia Alibrandi over Tamara Bonfanti and Silvia Mannina.
MEN’S BRONZE: MUSUMECI-PISTONE WINS. How many challenges have set the sand of the Capannine on fire. Gabriele Pistone and Salvatore Musumeci beat Andrea Chiesa and Sebastiano la Ferla (awarded MVP) 2-1. Third place occupied by Francesco Tomaselli and Matteo Longhitano who won 2-1 over Nicolò Di Grazia and Alessandro Ardita.
MASTERBALL SATISFIED. President Giosué Andronicus he is very satisfied: “The tournament went very well, 92 participating athletes and new clubs that joined the sporting initiative. We are proud of this. The confirmation came from the presence of Modica and the coach D’Amico. This allowed us to activate the Gold section.”
“We are aware – he continues – that the beach volleyball movement in Sicily is increasingly growing with the presence of many beginners who are approaching this wonderful discipline which is practiced all year round”. Federico Andronico general director of Masterball adds: “We are getting ever closer to the championship final in Bibione, only the last round is missing and we are satisfied with what we have sown with this first historic federal winter circuit. We expect a huge participation for the stage on April 19th which will be the closing line of a journey that will last over 5 months”.
