PISA. The Aoup is in first place among the Tuscan hospital-university companies in the performance evaluation in the year 2022. The ranking – obtained by calculating more than 250 indicators chosen by the Tuscany Region in collaboration with the MeS-Management and Healthcare Laboratory of the Scuola Superiore Sant ‘Anna di Pisa (with which since 2005 Tuscany has started a process aimed at creating a system for evaluating the performance of Tuscan healthcare companies, leading to the establishment of the MeS) – assigns the Aoup an overall score of 87% which it rose progressively from year to year despite the pandemic (in 2019 it was 80.09%, in 2020 it was 84% and in 2021 it was 86%).
The result rewards the professionals and the Company as a whole, given that the Aoup obtained the maximum in a very significant percentage of indicators.
The categories examined are: overall evaluation Target, economic area, digital health, vaccinations, personnel, Pnrr, chronicity and disability, outcomes and quality, oncology and end of life, research, waiting times, government and pediatric network, pharmaceuticals.
The scores
The Aoup achieved 100% on almost all oncology quality indicators and drug consumption.
Below are all the maximum scores achieved: ischemic stroke (risk of death within 30 days and readmission within 30 days); percentage of laparoscopic operations for colon cancer and risk of death within 30 days (for the same pathology); mortality 30 days after coronary artery bypass surgery; percentage of patients >= 65 years with hip fracture operated within 2 days; consumption of antibiotics (fluoroquinolones) per 1000 days of hospital stay; surveillance system for infections caused by enterobacteria resistant to carbapenem antibiotics; consumption of antibiotics in the area, incidence of injectable antibiotics in the area, percentage of intravenous immunoglobulins and direct pharmaceutical expenditure per DRG point (diagnosis related group); average of the volumes of oncological surgery operations in priority class A and compliance with the maximum waiting times for class A operations for colon, lung, prostate and uterine tumors.
Oncology courses and hospitalizations
One hundred percent also on the entire oncological path of malignant breast cancer (with respect to maximum waiting times, share of operations in departments with a volume of activity greater than 150 per year; percentage of women who also perform removal of the sentinel lymph node at the same time as hospitalization; percentage of conservative interventions on the skin, areola and nipple). The maximum of quality indicators also regards the number of hospitalizations in Hospice of cancer patients coming from hospital or from unassisted home with hospitalization period <= 7 days or hospitalization in Hospice with maximum waiting time <= 3 days. In terms of personnel, 100% on the monitoring of its consistency and the times foreseen for the identification of the place of work destination. On the Pnrr the Aoup obtains 100% compliance with the plan envisaged by the competent sector. In the field of digital health, 100% participation in the trial and compliance with the timetable for the adoption of the single Sap-Hana tool (multi-model database management system). On the Lea questionnaire (essential levels of assistance): 100% in the weighted average of the main errors on the total number of forms sent; on the regional Zerocode project: 100% for booking and self-acceptance of blood samples; maximum score also on the percentage of televisits for haematological check-ups; on the dissemination of the digital pregnancy booklet and on the percentage of outpatient services (first visits and diagnostic tests) guaranteed within the waiting times of the Prgla-Regional waiting list management plan.
