In Avezzano “Racchette in rosa”, the event dedicated to young tennis players waiting for the 2024 Giro d’Italia

AVEZZANO (AQ) – The municipal administration and the Avezzano Tennis Club promote “Pink rackets”, an entire afternoon dedicated to families. Children aged 6 and up will have fun, experiencing all the emotions of the sport of tennis.

The occasion is that of the month par excellence of Giro d’Italia 2024, or “pink” May. For weeks, Avezzano, the stage city, has already begun to electrify the atmosphere of home, with colored umbrellas, dedicated banners, conferences and street demonstrations for everyone. For this Saturday afternoon, May 4th, starting from 3 pm sharp, the city’s tennis club will attract the attention of children and families with the long-awaited event “Pink rackets”a varied tennis tournament, with final medals, aimed at young athletes aged 6 and up.

It is the municipal councilor Stefania Antidormi, delegated for the Municipality to follow all the sporting activities of the center located near the Pineta, to explain the details of the event, which already counts on the participation of 45 champions.

“To enrich and make the wait for the ninth stage of the Pink Caravan even more beautiful,” explains the councilor, “we wanted to create, together with the Tennis Club chaired by Valerio Dell’Olio, an exciting opportunity for families to meet and socialize of our city. The tennis tournament is completely free but only children who are already registered and covered by insurance will be able to participate in the competitions. Everyone else will still be able to take part in the event, also experiencing as observers the beauty of a sport which, like cycling, focuses entirely on the strength of the legs and the agility of the body”.

The afternoon will be structured in this way: from 3 pm, the children will be involved in moments of play inside the Pine Forest, with gymnastic courses developed ad hoc by the instructors. Subsequently, they will be the protagonists of real tennis tournaments, suitable for their ages. At 5.30 pm, however, there will be time for the awards ceremony: the mayor, Giovanni Di Pangrazio, will be present. Ambassadors of the “Pink Rackets” day will be talented tennis players, originally from the Marsican area, who will compete in exciting and demonstrative matches. Finally, at the end of the event, a snack will be provided for everyone. “The Giro will pass through the city in exactly ten days – concludes Stefania Antidormi – but Avezzano is already celebrating”.
