Lamezia Terme – The Place of the Heart in the heart of Calabria, the Ancient Mill of the Fairies, Kingdom of the Fairy Gelsomina, this year too will be the only historic water mill in Calabria, but also one of the few in the whole of southern Italy to participate in the European event and therefore represent our Region. For the occasion, the Friends of the Antico Mulino delle Fate announce the doors open to the “Fabrica nel Paesaggio” as defined by the “First International Prize” promoted by the Italian Federation of Associations and Clubs for UNESCO, in fact a rich program is proposed of cultural initiatives within the five days, opening the doors of his enchanted world to all the Calabrian cousins and beyond, always in the name of recovering memory in a simple, clear, informative, pedagogical and, why not, joyful way It is funny. This is the thirteenth edition of the event on Italian territory organized by the Italian Association of Friends of Historic Mills, for Calabria it is the third time in its history always with the Antico Mulino delle Fate of Lamezia Terme.
Launched in 2012, the event receives ever-increasing interest year after year. “The objective is to make the public aware of an often forgotten architectural, technological and cultural heritage. It is also an opportunity to adopt important and current messages such as the protection of buildings with historical and architectural value, the proposal of educational tourism, the knowledge and valorisation of often uncontaminated environmental sites and, last but not least, the relaunch of a milling activity capable of correctly transforming organic farming products into flours and products that can be used for a healthy diet. During these days, throughout Italy and also in other European nations, many mill owners will be available to open their buildings and welcome the public, illustrating their functioning and the stories that are connected to them – explain dall’Antico Mulino – The intent is therefore to propose and illustrate to an increasingly wider audience these jewels of ours that are too often ignored due to lifestyles that favor consumerism and technology. In the heart of Calabria, the Cultural Association Amici dell’Antico Mulino delle Fate will welcome visitors again to the Kingdom of the Fairy, offering unique opportunities for visitors to experience through the beauty that heals and inspires, including the possibility of immersing themselves in the enchanted fairy forest and capture its scents, flavors and extraordinary colors of spring. In these days we will understand that ‘everything now’ is a lifestyle that neglects beauty, the poetry of waiting and the virtues of slowness. On the five scheduled days, 10-11-12/18-19 May we are waiting for you at the Antico Mulino delle Fate in Via Serra 12 in Lamezia Terme (Nicastro), to introduce you to the place of the Heart in the heart of Calabria where for centuries they have mixed history and mystery.
