Caltanissetta without water for days, the mayor: «The pipe cannot break every 24 hours»

«I asked for and obtained from the prefect an emergency table, which will be held at 1.15 pm today, to which Caltaqua, Siciliacque, Ati and firefighters have been summoned for what is happening to the city of Caltanissetta». Mayor Roberto Gambino announced this regarding the serious water emergency that has been affecting the city for days now. Citizens and commercial activities are with dry taps but even today there will be no water distribution.

«Ancipa – said the mayor – is connected to the city of Caltanissetta with a pipe. In recent days, a piece broke and was repaired, then another piece and it was repaired again. The water will be delivered from Siciliacque to Caltaqua no earlier than 11pm tonight. But once it arrives it will not immediately reach citizens’ taps because Caltaqua will have to fill the municipal tank and distribute from there. So I asked for a prefectural table to look into this issue further. The tube cannot be broken every 24 hours. We already don’t have water in the reservoirs. If what arrives is then lost due to continuous failures, it becomes a serious problem. I believe that Siciliacque must carry out more incisive interventions to restore these systems once and for all. I hope that today those in charge will assume their responsibilities.”

Apparently the first fault occurred on April 28th in the Franceschini district of Agira, and was repaired within a few hours. But then immediately afterwards another failure occurred near Troina. And to this day the city of Caltanissetta still remains dry.
