Arturo’s island: at the Deported Museum in Carpi Simone Maretti reads the pages of Elsa Morante – SulPanaro

CARPI- They will be the pages of ‘Arthur’s Island’ by Elsa Morante, read and told by Simone Marettito close, Sunday 5 Mayat 5.00 pm, at the Monument to the Deported Persons Museum in Carpithe second edition of the ‘At the Museum with the Classics’ exhibition, promoted by the Fossoli Foundation.

For the occasion, Maretti will be accompanied, as in the first event of the event, by live musical performances by Simone Di Benedetto.

‘Arthur’s Island’ tells a story in which all or almost all the impulses and impulses of the human soul end up carving out an important position for themselves: from the influence that parents exercise on their children, to the latter’s illusion of being able to shake off – to a certain extent point of life – every ascendant, every hereditary and inherited character. To amplify all this – and to transform it into images destined to be imprinted in fiery characters in the reader’s mind – the scenario that frames the story: the island of Procida, surrounded by a sea and flooded by a sun that make it a literally mythical, in which every element of an individual’s life is inexorably brought back to the origins: to the origins of existence itself.
