The proceeding of the prosecutor Marcello Cascini arose from a complaint by Carbone, according to which De Gennaro in some Facebook live broadcasts (20 and 22 May 2020 and 14 July 2020) accused Carbone of «having failed in his professional duties as a magistrate and of having acted by pursuing party interests and committing abuses aimed at damaging De Gennaro and favoring third parties including the administration of Taranto”. In live broadcasts on the social network, the Tarantino journalist declared that Carbone, «despite having been denounced by him, was being a “virginella”», who «had come to court to argue that De Gennaro should be judged in Taranto based on his legal incompetence» and «that Carbone wanted to arrest him to silence him so as not to tell the bullshit that is happening behind Capristo’s back», former chief prosecutor of Taranto sentenced in first instance in Potenza. And again, De Gennaro would have stated that Carbone «with his friends from Area (organized judiciary current, ed.) archive everything and the opposite of everything by declaring falsely». Carbone, again according to De Gennaro’s accusations, would have hidden “the investigations relating to the Municipality of Taranto”. The trial will begin on 9 September 2024 before the single judge of the Court of Rome.
