Shipping: Messina and Tarros connect Italy with Libya and Egypt

Ignazio Messina & C. and the Tarros Group they start a connection between Italy, Libya and Egypt by calling at three Italian ports, three Libyan ports and one Egyptian one, under the acronym ELI. A historic service, but partly renewed to meet new commercial needs, which the two companies already offered together in the past and which testifies to the fruitful collaboration between the two Italian companies.

It will be a Vessels Sharing Agreement service through the use of two lo-lo container ships, one from Messina and one from Tarros, with a capacity each of approximately 1,150/1,200 14 ton TEUs. The first voyage will set sail in mid-June with the following rotation: Salerno – La Spezia – Genoa – Tripoli – Misurata – Alessandria – Benghazi – Salerno and the frequency of departures will be every fortnight.

As is evident, the new maritime line takes on a very particular geo-political and commercial significance: marks to all intents and purposes the reopening of the Libyan market also from Southern Europe as well as from the areas beyond Suez, a market in which Ignazio Messina & C. boasts a historic presence, the north-bound connection between Egypt and Italy, traffic between Alexandria and Benghazi will also be developed and, finally, through the hubs of Alexandria and Genoa, Libya and Egypt will also be connected with all the other markets served by Ignazio Messina & C.

Simultaneously with the opening of this Infra-Mediterranean service, the Messina will begin to call the port of Alexandria in north-bound with the ships of the Middle-East service offering a direct stopover for traffic coming from the regions of India, Pakistan and the Emirates Arabs and Saudi Arabia.
