Night of fear throughout the Vicenza area where the strong bad weather that raged throughout yesterday caused dozens of floods throughout the entire territory of the province and damage not yet estimated: there were also many landslides and landslides that were recorded from the Astico Valley, to the Priabonese area up to Isola Vicentina, Villaverla and down towards the capital and the lower Vicenza area where the Bacchiglione and Retrone still cause concern despite a slight decrease.
Among the most serious situations is that of Monte di Malo with the lower part of the town semi-flooded and five landslides blocking, among others, the connection with San Vito di Leguzzano and towards Priabona: the bridge on via Chenderle, a secondary road connecting Malo and the hamlet of Santomio, better known as the “chicken bridge”. The road connecting Casalena in the municipality of was closed due to a landslide Torrebelvicino; debris and water up to the town square in Cogollo del Cengio where the Civil Protection has been operational since tonight with several volunteers. Mudslides also in the stretch of Sp350 in the municipality of It’s raining Rocchette between the crossroads towards Meda towards the center of the town. Serious inconveniences also in the municipality of Vicenza Island with flooded basements especially in the Castelnovo area. Not far away, between Novoledo and Villaverla, landslide of land on the banks of the Timonchio, a few meters from the houses (see gallery).
The rolling basin in Caldogno opened, but the situation is still heavy in Vicenza with motor pumps in action especially in the stadium area: the distribution of bags continues and the Ponti di Debba road remains closed due to flooding. Finally, an alert situation in Longare: Via Don Calabria, Via Crosaron and Via Casoni remain closed due to flooding. All eyes now on today’s afternoon: a new wave of bad weather is expected with once again abundant precipitation ready to hit an already heavily compromised and currently saturated territory.
Flooding during the night in the underground spaces and entrances to the “Fontane” area in Schio (video below), near the study centre, where problems were also reported at the “Pasini” high school.
