ROVIGO – Good draw for Itas Mutua Baseball Softball Club Rovigo (Fabio Padoan / Nicolò Falghera & Judit V.) in the second round of the Serie A baseball championship. On Saturday the Polesans were guests of New Rimini for the double challenge valid for Group C. At the end of the dispute, a victory for each side and, above all, confirmation of the good form of the rossoblù who, thanks to the other results of the group, maintain the momentary peak.
In the afternoon Itas Mutua closed game one with a good result 13-5, gained above all thanks to a disruptive first inning which saw coach Soto Diaz’s roster score 10 times, compared to the 3 scored by the guests from Romagna. The large lead was excellently managed from the mound, where Crepaldi and Pietrogrande successfully alternated. Finding another three points in the second, fifth and eighth rounds, the hosts kept New Rimini at a safe distance, arriving without worries to secure the final 13-5.
The plot of game two was completely different, played in the evening and started in the name of balance with the defenses dominating the attacks. The first two points are from Romagna and arrive in the fourth round. The attack of Itas Mutua Rovigo, however, continues to go round in circles and never manages to get going. On the contrary, the rossoblù defense works quite well and thanks to the reliefs of Riesgo Lopez, Marelli and Giacomo Taschin, who took over from the departing Javier Diaz, it limits New Rimini’s subsequent attacks to just one point. Enough for the guests to take the match home, since the scoreboard of the Polesans does not unlock even in the last innings, freezing the 0-3 the final.
Full haul for the Serie A2 softball girls, victorious on Sunday in their championship debut on their home diamond. Nothing to be done for the newly promoted Supramonte against a rossoblù roster bordering on perfection. The two clear victories for 10-0 and 5-0. Game one ends by “manifesta” after four rounds in which the rossoblù “Girls”, led on the platform by the usual excellent Bernardi, scored four, one, two and three times respectively.
Equally convincing was game two, which the Polesine team got on the right track already in the first inning with three winning runs. This time too, home plate remained untouched thanks to a superb defensive display and Munaretto’s throws. The other two rossoblù points in the fourth and sixth rounds. In Group B Rovigo is the only team with maximum points. The journey towards the playoffs therefore begins in the best possible way.
Excellent news also from the Unders of the Adriatic Lng Baseball Softball Club Rovigo, busy in their respective championships over the weekend. The Under 18 baseball team wins and convinces thanks to the 17-3 win at Ponte di Piave. Successes also for the two Under 15s: baseball beat Castelfranco Veneto 7-3, while softball won 13-5 against Bolzano. The Under 12 baseball team makes a loud statement by winning 16-0 against Dynos Verona, while the Under 13 softball team first narrowly loses 6-5 to Bussolengo and then redeems itself with a nice 8-4 against San Martino Buon Albergo . The Serie C baseball team also wins, beating Ceppo Vicenza 7-1.
