The Enjoy Abruzzo cycling team will represent the entire region along the roads of Italy during the 2024 edition of the GiroE. It is a unique e-bike experience of its kind worldwide, which takes place on the days and on the roads of the Giro d’Italia. Organized by RCS Sport, it is included as a cycling touring event in the calendar of the Italian Cycling Federation. In recent days the president of the regional council, Marco Marsilio, and the undersecretary with responsibility for Tourism, Daniele D’Amario presented the all-Abruzzo team. “Enjoy Abruzzo” will be one of the 25 teams competing in the Giro delle bici e-bike.

“This is a great opportunity to promote tourism in the area – declared Marsilio – also because the GiroE takes place at the same time as the cycling Giro d’Italia. We all know that the Corsa Rosa represents the most important sporting event capable of promoting our cities and our environmental, cultural and historical specificities. Just think of the great visibility that the Costa dei trabocchi had last year thanks to the passage of the Giro along the suggestive cycle/pedestrian path. I am also grateful to the private sponsors – he added – who wanted to support the project. A particular adventure – concluded Marsilio – which will also see me personally involved in a couple of stages, as happened last year”.

Thanks to the use of e-bikes, which allow normally trained cyclists to tackle climbs usually reserved for champions, the event will allow all cycling lovers to experience the Corsa Rosa, whose route it follows; What changes are only the starting locations, as well as the mileage of the stage, which is lower.

Captain of the Enjoy Abruzzo team will be Alessandra Fiore, athlete and triathlete, AIRC Ambassador, who will lead the team until the arrival in Rome, assisted by the team managers Maurizio Formichetti and Claudio Di Dionisio and with the technical logistics organization of the Abruzzo tour operator Bikelife/ Isytravel.

For his part, the undersecretary with responsibility for tourism Daniele D’Amario confirmed that this initiative is also “a further piece of the strategy aimed at revealing one of Italy’s best kept secrets which is none other than the extraordinary beauty of Abruzzo ”. It is no coincidence that every day, at the starting village, it will be possible to visit the team’s hospitality area inside the paddock and the Fun Village, where it will be possible to receive brochures, gadgets and maps of cycling tourism in Abruzzo.
