FIRST HALF – Palermo looking for the first victory of the Mignani era to implement conviction and self-esteem on the road to the playoffs, Spezia who ardently wants to conquer the entire stakes to avoid the nightmare of the playouts. Dangerous crossroads at the Picco where the Ligurians cannot make potentially lethal missteps in the final rush that is worth survival, the Rosanero team must redeem the internal knockout suffered against Nesta’s Reggiana, secure sixth place and perhaps mathematically close the issue of access to the play-offs promotion. Mignani confirms the now usual 3-5-2, which can be changed to 3-4-1-2 in the possession phase in relation to Di Francesco’s range of action. Three interesting new features in the starting eleven proposed by the new Rosanero coach: Ceccaroni returns to the starting line-up in the defensive package, Segre takes up his place in the key area, Soleri has a chance from the first minute paired with Brunori. Pigliacelli between the posts, Diakité, Lucioni and Ceccaroni forming the rear line, Buttaro and Lund full-backs, Gomes, Segre and Di Francesco in midfield, Brunori striker in tandem with Soleri up front. There is no shortage of top-level players in the team led by D’Angelo: from the offensive joker Verde to Vignali and Di Serio, without forgetting the former Mateju who has so far achieved excellent performances with the Bianconeri eagles shirt. Good pace and intensity from the very first minutes, treacherous terrain and two imprecise clearances by both goalkeepers generate as many potential opportunities. Serious carelessness by Di Francesco in the tenth minute: excess confidence in his own area and the ball given to Elia, offload for Verde and left-footed still wide. Lund incredibly misses the measurement of the support back towards Pigliacelli and creates an assist to the kiss for Di Serio, lob on the exit of the visiting goalkeeper and Spezia ahead in the score. Spezia who spreads well in width, Elia pushes profitably to the right, another cross from the former squad and Vignali’s gored shot is not wide by much. Mignani’s Suqdra desolate in terms of pace, competitive and mental flatness, zero conclusions towards the La Spezia goal. The first half ends with the hosts narrowly ahead.
SECOND HALF – Palermo had a jolt at the start of the second half: sharp dribbling and a shot from the edge of the box by Diakité with Zoet blocking with closed fists. Palermo tries to mount a reaction but fails to make himself particularly dangerous. Gomes finds a deflection on the right from the edge, on the following corner Lund chews the ball with his right foot from an excellent position. D’Angelo recalls Falcinelli and strengthens the crucial area with Bandinelli. Mignani plays the Ranocchia card, Buttaro out and Segre diverted to the right side. Chance in the melee on an inactive ball, cross shot by Brunori and pinball in the La Spezia small area with Lucioni who doesn’t find the winning move. Yellow for Vignali who dramatically holds back Segre. Palermo manages possession but finds neither width nor depth. a match that becomes more nervous and edgy as the minutes pass. Ranocchi gets a yellow card for an arm that is too wide in elevation. Yellow also for Di Serio who leaves the field to Kouda then Verde is taken over by Pio Esposito. Impromptu but wide left foot from Di Francesco. He comes close to doubling it and spices it up with Pio Esposito’s butt. mignani recalls Brunori and Gomes, Mancuso and Henderson come in. All-in shortly afterwards, Diakité out and Traorè in. Spezia managing time and ball possession with malice and cunning, including recovery, Palermo defenseless and impalpable who can’t even remotely get close to Zoet’s area. Now there is a deep crisis again for the Rosanero team with Mignani suffering his second defeat in a row and having collected just three points in five games since his arrival on the Rosanero bench.
