Bari and Parma drew 1-1 at San Nicola and with two days to go of the championship they added a point to their ranking which has a completely different meaning for each of the two teams. The red and whites reach Ascoli and Ternana (both defeats) on 37 points and hope to reach the play-outs, while the Emilians are arithmetically promoted to Serie A after three seasons among the cadets.

After a goalless first half, in which Federico Giampaolo’s team managed to contain the league leaders, the guests took the lead at the start of the second half with a goal from Bonny. Bari was saved by captain Di Cesare who in the 68th minute came up with a beautiful goal to avoid defeat for them.

With two rounds to play, there are still 6 points up for grabs: the next match circled in red for the red and whites is on Sunday 5 May at the Tombolato against Cittadella, fresh from the defeat on the Como pitch which left them finishing at -3 from the play-offs. The last match of the regular season, however, is scheduled for May 10th at San Nicola against Brescia.

Bari-Parma: the news

Cautious start to the match by the red and whites (today on the pitch with the new blue uniform). In the 10th minute, the first opportunity of the match for Nasti who tries to surprise Chichizola outside the posts with a volley, but the Parma goalkeeper is reactive and manages to block the ball. The guests’ first shot in the 14th minute with Hernani, a central shot blocked in two stages by Pissardo. Sibilli lost the ball in the 17th minute, Bernabé tries a left-footed shot from 30 meters but the red and white goalkeeper rejects it in a stylistically imperfect but effective manner. In the 22nd minute the Gialloblù were dangerous with a right-footed shot from Mihaila which whizzed past Pissardo’s right before going out wide. The Romanian tries again in the 24th minute, this time with a shot from 25 meters that goes just above the red and white goal. Big risk on the counterattack for Bari in the 26th minute: Partipilo supports for Bonny, Pissardo rejects, Mihaila then misses the target from a good position. Pecchi’s team is growing. He tries to let his Sibilli breathe with a mid-range right-footed shot deflected into a corner by Chichizola. Pecchia’s team comes back to life in the 42nd minute with an attempt by Partipilo deflected for a corner by Ricci. Teams at rest without injury time with a score of 0-0.

After the interval, first substitution for Pecchia: the yellow carded Coulibaly is out and replaced by Di Chiara. On the first attack of the second half, in the 50th minute, Parma found the opening goal: the ball was lost in midfield by Kallon, Partipilo took possession of it and verticalized it for Bonny, control and an unstoppable right-footed shot for Pissardo. From the stands the red and white fans ironically sing the chorus “Ciro Polito score a goal for us”. Double substitution for the Emilians in the 61st minute: Cyprien and Sohm replace Partipilo and Bernabé, while in Bari, in the 66th minute, Morachioli replaces Aramu. The red and whites equalized in the 68th minute with a Eurogoal from captain Valerio Di Cesare, who after remaining under offensive pressure following the development of a corner, invented a right-footed shot from inside the area that was unstoppable for Chichizola. In the 71st minute Parma changes again: Charpentier and Ansaldi replace Bonny and Estevez. In Bari in the 73rd minute Acampora and Achik come on for Lulic Kallon. In the 80th minute Di Cesare, slightly bruised, gives way to Matino. Nothing more happens in the 4′ of injury time, Parma celebrates Serie A, Bari clings to the hope of playing for survival in the play-outs.
