Important numbers also in this edition for the “Città di Benevento” educational rugby tournament, scheduled for May 5th at the stadium ‘Dell’Oste’ in the Pacevecchia district. On the green lawn of the historic city facility dedicated to the oval ball, over 900 male and female athletes will meet, ready to compete for the 5 trophies of the event reserved for the categories Under 6/8/10/12in addition to the categories Under 14/16 feminine. One of the objectives of the event is to spread the values and world of rugby, starting with the youngest athletes, so as to build a bottom-up sporting culture, capable of positively influencing the lives of athletes even outside the playing field. The tournament, which has come to an end 39th edition, is the oldest sporting event in the city of Benevento and this year it will see the starting line 25 teams coming from all over Italy, who will be present in the capital from Saturday to take guided tours.
In addition to the ‘Dell’Oste’ field, considering the high number of participants, the tournament will also involve the ‘Tontoli’ field (behind the Liceo Scientifico “Rummo”) and ‘Compagna’ (Rione Ferrovia). The awards ceremony will take place on May 5th starting from 4 pm in the presence of sporting and political institutions. The event is organized byIPVC Rugby Benevento of the president Rosario Palumbo, a company that will once again allow the Sanni capital to be an important point of reference for Italian rugby. The tournament will offer the eleventh ‘Ciro Vigorito Trophy’ and memorials will also take place during the event ‘Carlo Pezzuto’, ‘Francesco De Nigris’ And ‘Alfredo Dell’Oste’as well as the eighth ‘Mario Simone’ Trophy.
