Second defeat in a row for Palermo who are unable to emerge from the crisis that led to the dismissal of Eugenio Corini. In La Spezia the home team won 1-0 thanks to Giuseppe Di Serio’s goal following a reckless back pass by Kristoffer Lund. Michele Mignani’s team, after three draws and two defeats in five games, continues to take steps backwards. Palermo’s first half was unwatchable: a disjointed team, players far from each other and unable to read situations. It was Lund who gave Spezia the lead in the 16th minute as he did not notice his opponents and tried a slow back pass to Pigliacelli: Di Serio arrived and lobbed the ball into the goal.
Spezia tries again, taking advantage of the rosanero’s errors in the setup, but only the home team’s inaccuracy keeps Palermo in the game. In the second half it seems like a different Palermo, after 30″ Diakité takes courage, skips a man and kicks diagonally towards goal, Zoet rejects as best he can. But it’s an illusion, as the minutes go by it remains the only shot on target for the rosanero who try little and are imprecise. Spezia controls, waits for Palermo and when they can tries to keep the ball away from their own penalty area while also trying to close the game but committing imprecision. Mignani tries to change something by first bringing in Ranocchia for Buttaro then Mancuso for Brunori and Henderson for Gomes. There is also room for Traorè in place of Diakite, but nothing changes the flow of the match.
