“We are aiming for the Treble, nothing is unattainable. Italian an example”

Alfio Torrisi enjoys his first triumph at the helm of the Trapani. The championship victory Serie D Group I it is the seal of two years of great work, carried out with determination and overcoming difficulties. During the interview given exclusively to Sporticily, the coach originally from Catania looked back on an extraordinary season to say the least that has yet to come to an end. Promotion in Serie C in fact it wasn’t the only objective: there are still two more satisfactions to be had, with the final of Italian Cup and participation in Poule Scudetto.

Trapani in Serie C, the joy of Alfio Torrisi

The promotion of Trapani in Serie C it was the high point of ‘s coaching career Alfio Torrisi. Even though two weeks have passed since the challenge with the Syracuse, the emotion has yet to be fully assimilated. “It’s a difficult feeling to decipher. A great feeling, never felt before because it’s the first time I’ve won a Serie D championship in front of all these people. A beautiful emotion, I was truly happy to have experienced it with these people and with my family. We were good at giving gifts to the people and the president Valerio Antonini this joy. We had an extra duty towards a person who made us experience a season like true professionals. It was the perfect circle closure. It is an emotion that I will never be able to forget.”

Thanks to the staff

In this regard, he can only thank his collaborators. The staff of Trapani it’s a real family. The professor Riccardo Calzone is at the side of Alfio Torrisi since the year a Trecastagni. But he is not the only loyal one. “Without a good staff, a coach goes nowhere. When the relationship becomes lasting, men emerge. This allows you to have outbursts and comparisons with real travel companions. When you have figures of great standing next to you, everything is simpler. The coach seen from the outside must always be strong and broad-shouldered, but he often needs the support of others.”

The recipe for winning Trapani however, it was rich in various ingredients, especially since the granata were the obvious favorites in this one D Series. “He wins with strategies and luck, which must never be lacking. Curiosity is the most important thing. Every day you have to ask yourself questions to find as many solutions as possible. Between luck and competence I choose the latter, if you are competent you can also be lucky. There are and always will be detractors. They are unable to go beyond a certain point and attack those who can. Critics, on the other hand, see some things and give you ideas to work on. When you are forced to win and the club gives you what I had, including a squad of Martians, everything is easier.”

Torrisi’s Trapani wants the treble

The season of Trapani it may still have an interesting double appendix. The Granata have to play the final of Italian Cup against the Follonica Gavorrano. And then there will be Poule Scudetto against the winners of the other groups of D Series. The technician Alfio Torrisi he doesn’t beat around the bush too much: “The president Valerio Antonini talked about Treble and we have what it takes to try to satisfy it. We will address in Poule Scudetto teams equipped like ours, it’s a kind of Champions League. We know it will be tough, a different stage from the championship, but we have all it takes to experience it as protagonists and get to the end.”

The first objective in order of time, however, is the Italian Cup. “The opponent is a team that is playing to win promotion and is doing important things. We will work to try to make the president happy and achieve the set goal. We want to make the square happy and aspire to something important. Certain objectives seem unattainable at first, but we can enter Trapani’s history by adding new trophies to the season.”

Personal goals

Alfio Torrisi, even on a personal level, has no intention of stopping and sends a message to all those coaches who would like to follow in his footsteps, but don’t believe in themselves enough. “In life you have to set goals and fight against everything and everyone to achieve them. You have to push your shoulders. We live in an environment where we expect nothing more than the opportunity to make others disappear. You have to be strong and at times arrogant, let your “worst” side come out. Enemies are those who don’t want you to get where you want to go. It takes passion, the desire to always improve and to think with your own head. There is nothing unattainable. Just look at other coaches who are doing great things. I think about Vincenzo Italianowhich went from C to A in 5 years. Also Alessio Dionisi (formerly Sassuolo, ed.) until 5 years ago it was in Serie D. You just need to have competence, the desire to study and update yourself”, he concluded.
