«She is a shy and little-known figure, she is one of the true stars of world pianism… In the Goldberg Variations she is at the same level as Glenn Gould, by Rosalyn Tureck». With these words the late Paolo Isotta, journalist for Corriere della Sera, gave a perfect description of Maria Perrottaa musician that the world envies us and who vFriday 3 Mayat 6.00 pmwill perform in the Concert Hall of Palazzo De’ Nobili in Catanzaroin a concert organized byFriends of Music Associationadhering to LOVE Calabria.

«It is an immense satisfaction – declared the president Daniela Faccio – to be able to once again host an excellence of Italian pianism. Maria Perrotta is not simply a great musician, but she is also a Calabrian in love with her homeland, despite having lived in Paris for years. Her return to Catanzaro will be yet another flagship of our musical season.”

Equipped with an amazing timbre, Maria Perrotta she is highly esteemed by critics and the public for the fluidity with which she manages to express her technical and interpretative skills of the Goldberg Variations, creating a magical and sensual atmosphere at the same time. Her phrasings, her deep touch manage to express an unusual elegance.

«It is always a great pleasure for me – said the pianist – to be able to present the Goldberg Variations to the public. Bach’s music has always been an inexhaustible source of beauty and truth. It’s like a “home”. It is the earth but also the sky. It is deeply human but oriented towards the divine. It continually works on the logic of musical language, but continually and completely transcends the language itself.”

The Goldberg Variations is certainly a difficult repertoire to perform which, however, Maria Perrotta makes it seem natural, managing to fascinate with the great attention to the score and with the continuous search for perfect sounds. His light pianism is at the same time full of character. In the Catanzaro concert the musician will perform a repertoire whose great intimacy will lead us on the path of pure emotions.

«The work consists of a series of 30 variations after an aria in G major in the form of a sarabande, which is then repeated at the end, after the thirtieth variation. It is a journey that seems infinite, even if returning to the initial melody the circle closes, making us feel at home again, incredulous of so many adventures experienced and enchanted once again by the perfect and intact simplicity of the air”. A presentation that creates the right expectation to attend a concert of great importance, which will make us find a great pianist.

It will be possible to attend the concert of Maria Perrotta with the subscription subscribed for the year 2023-2024 or with the purchase of the entrance ticket on sale before the concert.
