Here’s how much Milan will earn with the new Champions League format, for which they mathematically qualified as of yesterday.
Since yesterday, thanks to the results of the competitors, the Milan is mathematically qualified to Champions League for the 2024-2025 season. An excellent achievement, given that it is the fourth consecutive participation in the top European club competition, perhaps the most positive and continuous achievement of the Pioli era.
A sign of continuity that will allow the Milan to play against top European clubs and improve their international ranking. But not only that: the Rossoneri will debut in new format which will start next September, i.e. the 36-team competition with a single group and multiple matches to play.
New format also means new division of revenue according to UEFA. Today the portal Calcioefinanza.it wanted to do some math in Milan’s pocket to understand when the club will go to earn with the new formula for participation in the Champions League in the coming season.
Revenues and new bonuses: Milan’s earnings increase
First of all the Milanas well as all 36 teams that will take part in the first phase of the new Champions League, will obtain an income of 18.62 million euros only for the single participation. This figure has increased compared to the just over 15 million that were expected until the previous season.
Bonuses for results, however, are decreasing. Every victory will count 2.1 million while draws will make money 700 thousand euros to clubs. Yet they will add up to a bonus for the final placement in the general classification. The total amount available for this bonus will be divided into 666 equal shares. The initial value of each share will be 275 thousand euros. The team with the worst ranking (last place) will receive only one share, a figure that Milan has already established in the minimum revenues.
