“Since I am not a candidate, I want the truth to be told and I want to respond to baseless and slanderous statements and clumsy attempts conducted without the truth of the facts” – declared the mayor in a live Facebook broadcast.
The bone of contention concerns a note that the mayor Lucio Greco allegedly sent to Eni to advocate the costly transfer of Macchitella Lab to the Guardia di Finanza as the headquarters of the barracks. The statements are from the candidate Donegani while the former deputy mayor Terenziano Di Stefano said that he “knew nothing about it and if he had been present he would have prevented it”.
“I have never sent such a letter to Eni and it was not my intention or that of the council to support the sale of the building to the Gdf. Instead, I sent several notes to Eni because the furnishings are missing and we ask that they credit us with the 660 thousand euros foreseen by the agreement. When I took office, Macchitella lab was a ruin, today it is a building awarded as a redevelopment project. This is the truth” – concluded the mayor.
