CHIETI. The minority accuses, the majority replies but, at the same time, divides. On Teateservizi the room heats up but the council, in particular the councillor Massimo Cassarino, try to respond point by point to the agenda presented by the entire opposition concerned by the fact that the collection is still at a standstill. An inability to collect municipal taxes, is underlined several times by the minority councilors, is particularly serious and harmful for a municipality in difficulty. To all this it must be added that the bankruptcy of the subsidiary not only blocked collections but also left the workers who took care of them at home. Workers present at the meeting yesterday with their union representatives.
THE MINORITY
The agenda on Teateservizi, the first signatory is the Lega group leader Mario Colantonio, the first to speak in the chamber, was signed by all the opposition councillors. The document urged the mayor and the council to verify and report to the chamber on the procedures to guarantee the body’s tax revenues, with particular reference to the TARI for 2024, in order to give broad answers on the financial sustainability of the body. We also ask you to report on the operations to guarantee the employment level and to adopt all the necessary acts for the bankruptcy trustee to request the provisional exercise for the collection of taxes”. The minority therefore calls for “a single political direction”, as the councilor put it Carla Di Biase (FdI). «A concrete act 70 days after the bankruptcy of the company», as he underlines Serena Pompilio (Political action) talking about «70 days of nothing, of fairy tales and bar talk without a Plan B».
THE CIVIC CENTER
The intervention was harsh Silvia Di Pasquale (Who loves Chieti) which intends to highlight the differences between the civic center of the deputy mayor Paolo De Cesare and the rest of the centre-left majority. Di Pasquale, while underlining that at the time of taking office he found a company already in bankruptcy, «with three financial years not presented and a complaint to the prosecutor’s office, probably from the former mayor, which gave rise to the investigation which then led to the failure”, underlines the fact that the civic center had imagined another path for the subsidiary. A path that passed through the unpacking of services and the simultaneous protection of workers. A path that, if followed, would not have led to this situation.
MAYOR
“The council highlighted something important,” comments the mayor Diego Ferrara at the end of the session, «the common concern of the majority and minority for the workers of Teateservizi is a positive fact. Everything the administration could to save Teateservizi from bankruptcy, and then to stand by the workers, it did. Now we must all row in the same direction which for us is the temporary exercise, because it is the situation that would best ensure the very important function of Teateservizi: collection. A function never interrupted in recent months. In the meantime we have not been idle. Whoever has effective solutions should put them in place, we have never closed this door and we are available to work with those who are sincerely interested in the future of Teateservizi, of the collection, and above all of the workers who are the asset that matters most to us. Exactly as happened with the parking lots and the reinternalization of almost all the workers involved, a number that we hope to absorb completely.”
