Hundreds of people at the protest in San Martino Buonassociazione but still no solution

About a hundred people attended the demonstration in front of the town hall. Some masters and professors a read messages of solidarity. A popular petition started. But in the end, on Monday, the case of four librarians from the Municipality of San Martino Buon Albergo who risk “a salary cut of between 20% and 30%” has not found solutions. «The state of unrest continues because no satisfactory answers have been received from the Municipality» said Nicola Spadavecchia of Filcams Cgil, in the evening, at the end of the municipal council.

The new management

It all started in recent weeks when, through a tender, the new management of the San Martino library, with effect from tomorrow 1st May, went to cooperative «Macchine Celibi» of Bologna, already at the center of controversy here in the city for the case of the Civic Museums as documented by the TV program Report on Rai Tre. The emergence of the issue linked to the national contract and the recognition of all seniority increases for the four librarians, whose experience spans ten yearsthe company spoke of the salary situation «determined upstream by the forecast made by the contracting authority (the Municipality of San Martino, ed.) and the related resources assigned», defining the contractual frameworks proposed to the librarians as «consistent» as well as «the only ones compatible with the labor cost estimated by the institution».

The employees

From Filcams Cgil they say that «in the city council the administration of San Martino reiterated the assumption coherence of the procurement procedure”. Hence, therefore, the state of agitation that remains open. For the four librarians, still a few hours to decide whether or not to sign the new contract, possibly continuing their battle “from within”. Even before Monday’s protest, meanwhile, the union had requested that «public administrations, in the tender specifications, make it a constraint, in addition to the application of the social clause, that the cost of labor is not affected in any part, including everything that the employees they have matured like increases in seniority.”
