The Fiorenzuola salvation will be played out in the playouts, against Novara. TuttoC.com interviewed the sporting director of the Rossoneri, Marco Bernardi.

Direct salvation has not arrived. Unfortunately they will be playoffs.
“Based on how we were at the end of the first round, penultimate with only 14 points, I would remove the unfortunately because we had an excellent second round, with 24 points from the return of Mr. Tabbiani and his staff. A great run-up that allowed us to conquer them on the pitch. So we have to see the glass as half full. Obviously we hoped and dreamed of direct salvation but realistically we knew it would be a very difficult undertaking.”

Opposite Novara, against whom you lost in the last match of the regular season. Doesn’t it matter, since you were already thinking about the playouts?
“Instead it matters, because we put in a terrible performance and this is not tolerable at this point of the season and must give us anger and energy to react in the playouts. Surely these 10 days must serve us to recover physical and mental energy to better prepare for this challenge.”

A troubled year. What didn’t work?
“It’s the third consecutive year in Serie C and it was certainly the most difficult. In the other two seasons we escaped easily, last year we were even first in the standings for a couple of days, while in this one we were at the bottom all year fighting point by point not to be relegated and we had a truly “fight for salvation” season.
Saying what didn’t work now would be inappropriate but we will take stock and carry out the necessary analyzes at the end of the season, with the bowls still standing. Also because we have the great opportunity, in these two matches, to redeem ourselves and still achieve salvation which was the objective set at the beginning of the season. And if we save ourselves through the play-outs it will be more painful and tough but also more satisfying.”

Have you ever thought that if you had continued with Mr. Tabbiani it would have been better?
“No, we never thought so. I think it was right that he, at that moment, having had the opportunity of a place like Catania, took it. But even if it didn’t go as he hoped, I think it helped him very much as an experience. Then it is obvious that if he had remained here everything would have been simpler on both sides because we would have continued together a work path that began 5 years ago, which has allowed us to establish a relationship of mutual respect and trust with the company human and professional which facilitates all the components to work at their best”.

In the meantime, Mantova went to Serie B.
“He deserved it, both for the quality of his play and for his progress in the championship, so congratulations to them because they played an amazing season.”

In D, for the moment, Alessandria and Pro Sesto.
“They are two historic places in the football panorama, which come from 2 different paths in recent years. Last year Alessandria survived the play outs while Pro Sesto had a season above all expectations fighting for the top. I wish them both a prompt rise to the pros.
