Italia Viva’s “gaffe” unleashes solidarity with Mayor Manzoni

Municipality of Pozzuoli, the latest is a gaffe: the opposition represented in the municipal council by the “Italia viva Pozzuoli” group and by the councilor Gianluca Sebastiano accused the mayor of Pozzuoli Luigi Manzoni of not being present at the summit convened last Sunday in the Prefecture following the strong tremors registered before the Phlegraean Fields and then at the edge of the Vesuvius.

Unfounded accusation because the meeting was not scheduled in person but rather via video call and 23 were present, each representing an institution and including the mayors of the Phlegraean area. Today the group leaders who support the majority in the Pozzuoli City Council sympathized with Mayor Manzoni with the following note:

«”WE” city government forces, aware of the delicate historical moment due to the resurgence of the bradyseism phenomenon, express our full support to the mayor Luigi Manzoni and we consider the exploitation that has occurred in recent days unacceptable. On issues such as those linked to bradyseism, institutional forces have the duty, beyond belonging, to operate with a collaborative spirit in the interest of the community. The legitimate anxieties and concerns of citizens require serious attitudes and cannot be the subject of petty inferences. The maximum national attention, with the issuing of a specific provision, the constant monitoring of the competent scientific bodies and the stable attention of the municipal offices are only part of the activities implemented. All measures for the prevention and mitigation of risks deriving from the bradyseismic phenomenon are being implemented regularly. As majority forces we will continue to support the initiatives undertaken with the hope that work in the interests of citizens will also involve those who have only characterized themselves by sterile controversies.”

The council groups: Pozzuoli Libera, Progressive Democrats, Pozzuoli al Centro, Spazio Flegreo, Europa Verde, mixed majority group.
