CAMPOBASSO – May 1st Workers’ Day, CGIL Molise and CGIL of Chieti and Lanciano launch a proposal for work and development of the territory.

“On this May 1st – declares the general secretary of the CGIL Molise Paolo De Socio – the union has the duty to bring issues such as peace, social equity and safe and dignified work back to the center of the political and social debate. Central issues also for our territories which are affected more or less directly by the economic and geopolitical effects of wars and which are affected by industrial crises (those already existing and those expected) which have increased the climate of precariousness and uncertainty for too many years now throughout southern Italy and in Molise. Local concern increases if we consider the implementation delays for the mobilization of ordinary and extraordinary programming funds, for the discussion of active and passive labor policies and for the provision of essential services such as health, education, mobility and infrastructure. Furthermore, there is the need to implement a serious national and local policy to put a stop to the terrible series of accidents at work which unfortunately have also characterized the Molise crime news in recent weeks.

The stances taken by government political groups with respect to what we believe to be an unfortunate bill for the “weaker” regions of our country system deserve separate discussion: differentiated autonomy. To truly celebrate something on May 1st and in the following months, workers, especially those from Molise, would perhaps need to have some more certainty for themselves and their children, also considering the dramatic contextual emergency linked to the inexorable phenomena of emigration and depopulation of our territories. The CGIL of Molise, together with the CGIL of Chieti and as part of a vast proposal of initiatives by the CGIL Abruzzo Molise, has organised, precisely for the day of May 1st, a reflection initiative which will see the union engaged in discussing with the local, provincial and regional institutions of Abruzzo and Molise on the issues of sustainable development of the territory combined with the proposal of dignified, stable and safe work. The appointment is for tomorrow in San Salvo – 9.30 am – at the Sports Hall in via Ferdinando Magellano. “In a moment of difficulty like this – declared the General Secretary of the CGIL Molise Paolo De Socio – we are not fascinated by the suggestions that relaunch cold institutional mergers between different territories of Abruzzo and Molise but we believe it is important to create synergies for the provision of services, shared infrastructural programming and to network the institutional and productive realities that are located in the Chieti area and in the industrial area of Termoli and Molise. Furthermore – concludes De Socio – we should
try to structure a high-level discussion for the networking of realities capable of contributing to local development with the strength of the long levers of knowledge aimed at providing new intelligence at the service of ecological and energy transformation processes, encouraging interaction between institutions, social partners, training entities and universities that enhance the so-called third mission of universities aimed at providing answers to future graduates and the territory through the proposal not only of ordinary teaching but also of Research and Innovation that contribute to cultural and economic development overall of our Regions.” The CGIL announces that in these days it will also continue to collect signatures incessantly for the referendums aimed at increasing protections and rights regarding workplace safety and dismissals and to give a change to the distortions implemented in recent years by the Jobs Act.”
