There Rose Garden Festival on the days of the most intense blooms. There are many good reasons to visit the Rose Garden Festival this year.

“To begin with, our Botanical Garden has decided to join the International Plant Fascination Day (Fascination of Plants Day 2024), – explains the director of the Botanical Garden, Silvia Assini – this is the international event promoted by EPSO (European Plant Science Organization), in which over 220 universities, research institutes, botanical gardens, parks, schools and academies participate, organizing events for raise awareness of the importance of plant research“.

The other initiatives

The Rose Garden Festival will also be accompanied in this edition by a “Outside the Garden” with the exhibition and the possibility of purchasing rose plants, aromatic plants, grasses, dahlias and wildflowers from some well-known nurseries in northern Italy. There will be space for horticultural plants from the province of Pavia and honey producers in addition to various street food proposals for lunches, snacks or aperitifs.

Inside the cloister of the Botanical Garden, interactive stations will be organized to tell the public about research and projects, carried out by botanists and agronomists from Pavia of the University’s Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences, on alpine plants and climate change, on taxonomy of plants, on local agricultural varieties, on agroecosystems, on the ecological restoration of habitats, on medicinal plants, on trees and forests.

The cloister will also host the competition “The most beautiful Rose” organized by the Friends of the Botanical Garden Association. Those interested in participating can present themselves the same morning, from 10.00 to 12.00, at the Association table with the rose or roses that they intend to participate in the competition.

The Rose Garden Festival will continue the following week with visits organized by the Botanical Garden library.
