The new police commissioners of Pisa, Imperia, Varese, Macerata, Trapani, Sondrio, La Spezia, Viterbo and Latina have been appointed.
It was in Latina that the police commissioner Raffaele Gargiulo left, who took on the role of police commissioner of Pisa. In his place, he arrives from Viterbo Fausto Vinci57 years old.
The Monster of Florence
From December 1995 to December 2002 he was in the Flying Squad of the Florence Police Headquarters with the role of head of the Homicide sections, the anti-drug section and the unit that dealt with the investigations relating to the crimes of the so-called “Monster of Florence”.
From 2004 to 2011 he worked at the Central Operational Service of the Central Anti-Crime Directorate where he carried out investigations against those responsible for the murder of the Honorable Francesco Fortugno, Vice President of the Regional Council of the Calabria Region, as well as carrying out numerous investigative activities against dangerous mafia organizations also aimed at capturing dangerous fugitives (the arrest in the Netherlands of those responsible for the Duisburg massacre).
The Circeo crime
He carried out investigative activities, in collaboration with the Federal Bureau of Investigation, against mafia-type criminal organizations, with projections in the United States of America (Operation Old Bridge). He was responsible for the arrest of those responsible for heinous crimes (such as the arrest of Angelo Izzo, known as the “Monster of Circeo” and other cases of national importance).
From January 2014 to 2016 he was Director of the Administrative and Social Police and Immigration Division of the Florence Police Headquarters where he directed delicate public order services on the occasion of “street” demonstrations of a political nature, public shows and sporting events which saw the participation of a considerable number of people.
From January 2017 to May 2020 he worked as Deputy Director of the “Palazzo Chigi” Public Security Inspectorate, responsible for the protection and security services of Government buildings; from June 2020 to October 2022 he was Vicar of the Police Commissioner of Brescia. Since 9 January 2023 he has been Police Commissioner of the province of Viterbo.
