The title “Novara European city of sport 2025” has been withdrawn in Rome

“Yesterday morning, with great pride, I represented Novara in Rome for the XXXVI Edition of the ACES Gala in the Hall of Honor of the CONI Palace, during the ceremony for the awarding of the title of European City of Sport 2025. The president of CONI was present , Giovanni Malagò, the director of the UNESCO Department of Human Sciences, Angela Melo, and the presidents of Aces Europe and Aces Italia, Gian Francesco Lupattelli and Vincenzo Lupattelli” said Novara’s sports councilor Ivan De Grandis.

The words of De Grandis

“Being the European City of Sport is not a recognition as an end in itself, but it is a reward for our entire sporting community and also marks the beginning of new opportunities for Novara and for local sport, in terms of events, contributions and positive impacts .
Sport is an integral part of Novara’s DNA, with symbolic moments in the city’s history linked to the sporting world. The Administration constantly promotes the fundamental values linked to the practice of sport: inclusion and participation, reiterated in the motto of the candidacy, “Novara, Sport at 360 degrees”. Obtaining the title of “European City of Sport” for 2025 confirms this commitment and the planned work.

Our daily work is based on planning, discussion and listening aimed at finding effective solutions that enhance sports clubs. We also continue to invest in sports facilities, to guarantee adequate and functional structures for athletes and sports clubs.
The real challenge now is to transform the title of European City of Sport 2025 into an even broader opportunity for our city, so that it can be the driving force of significant sporting and territorial growth.
We have already warmed up our engines for 2025, in fact we will soon host the Grande Partenza of the Giro d’Italia and the Hockey World Cup, consolidating our position as a reference city for national and international sporting events and promoting the territory and its excellence”.
