It continues apace path aimed at strengthening the integrated safety system in the provincial territory which, this morning, was enriched with a new milestone.

There Italy Room of the Government Palace has, in fact, hosted the signing of the “Memorandum of Understanding for legality and security regarding anti-robbery video alarms” which arrives a few weeks after the Protocol signed with the Italian Banking Association and the meeting of the Provincial Committee for Public Order and Security, where specific strategic lines were shared with Poste Italiane, in order to prevent and combat episodes of predatory crime .

Developed in the wake of the Framework Protocol stipulated on 22 February between the Ministry of the Interior, Confcommercio-Imprese per l’Italia and Confesercenti Nazionale, the agreement document was signed by the Prefect of Potenza Michele Campanaro, by the President of Confcommercio Imprese per l’Italia of Potenza Angelo Lovallo and by the President of Confesercenti Potenza Giorgio Lamorgese.

Also present at the signing the leaders of the Police Force and the President of the Basilicata Chamber of Commerce Michele Somma.

The Protocol aims to guarantee high levels of protection and safety for commercial establishments and businessesthrough the prediction of advanced systems connected video alarms, “point to point”with the operations rooms of the police force which, in the event of a robbery, will be able to receive reports and images in real time.

To integrate the Agreement, the Technical Specifications were also presented – approved when the National Agreement was signed – which provides, in detail, the technical characteristics of the overall architecture of the equipment.

To achieve the ambitious objective and give a highly operational connotation to the initiative, Prefect Campanaro, immediately after the signing, proceeded with the establishment of the control room, provided for by the art. 6 of the Protocol which will be chaired by the Deputy Vice Prefect of the Prefecture of Potenza and composed of qualified representatives of the Police Forces and the signatory trade associations.

The control room, in addition to being the privileged area for testing the close synergy between the parties involved, will ensure monitoring of the implementation status of the Protocol on a six-monthly basiscommunicating the outcome to the Department of Public Security – Office for the Coordination and Planning of Police Force activities.

“I thank the Presidents of the trade associations for immediately understanding the importance of contributing to the construction of participatory security in the area. Today’s initiative adds, in fact, to the many initiatives resulting from the journey of the traveling committees and from the close dialogue established with local administrators in recent years.

Before developing today’s Protocol, we proceeded, as usual, with careful monitoring of the trend of predatory crimes against commercial establishments and businesses in the provincial territory.

The trend turned out to be in contrast to the other criminal items, recording a slight growth (from 86 episodes in 2021 to 93 in 2023).

But what particularly struck us it is the data from the first months of 2024 which, with the 28 attempted and completed episodes, including thefts and robberies, pushed us to significantly accelerate the adoption of specific tools to raise safety standards in favor of economic operators most exposed to predatory actions.

The diffusion of ‘best practices’, such as those that will arise from today’s Protocol, will, in fact, contribute to significantly increasing the general level of safety and contributing to the healthy development of trade and small businesses, which represent fundamental elements of the economic framework of our territory”, the words of the Prefect Campanaro on the margin of the subscription.

The text of the Agreement is published on the institutional website at www.prefettura/potenza.it.
