Sarah’s victory and fairy tales with happy endings

Last night, Saturday 18 May, the final of the Evening of Amici 2024 was broadcast where the students of Maria De Filippi’s talent show competed. After months of waiting, the 15 golden jackets were distributed to the best performers of this edition, who are divided into three teams. The first is captained by Rudy Zerbi and Celentano, the second by Emmanuel Lo and Lorella Cuccarini, while the last team is directed by the couple Anna Pettinelli – Raimondo Todaro. Once at the Evening, the judges of Amici 2024 also change: to choose the fate of the young artists the trio Cristiano Malgioglio, Giuseppe Giofrè and Michele Bravi. Angelina Mango, vote 10: Everyone at school

He could come in slippers and immediately command the attention of the audience, just saying hello and running away after a few minutes. And instead Angelina Mango plans a masterclass for all staging and interpretation competitors, to the point of making the rest disappear. Sometimes you don’t necessarily need to look outside the Italian borders to find one of the best contemporary pop authors: no competition, but all this talent doesn’t happen by chance and all that prep work can no longer be underestimated.

Lorella Cuccarini and Emanuel Lo, vote 9: King Midas

Lorella Cuccarini’s tears are the fruit of two years of incessant work on her boys, cultivated from the first days of casting until the final. Sometimes she forgets too quickly how important she was in Angelina Mango’s transformation, because her modesty and time almost allow her to slip away from the winners’ bandwagon. And instead this year she repeats the same goal, with one of the underdog stories, like the one experienced by Sarah Toscano, which opens the doors of music to many voices still looking for guidance.

Rudy Zerbi and Alessandra Celentano, vote 7: Consolation prize

Too bad for Marisol, Dustin, Petit and Holden. There are four competitors from the team who reach the final, and even if victory escapes this year (second year in a row after the victory last year of the dancer Mattia Zenzola, led by Raimondo Todaro) they mark a precise path for all the competitors in competition. It’s especially sad for Alessandra Celentano, with two of the best dancers of recent years, who end their journey at the gates of victory: Is there anyone still wary of his scouting skills? I do not believe.

Holden, rating 7: Dream boy dream

If there is a flaw in Holden’s path, it is the lack of translatability with a code clear to the public. A barrier that allowed everyone to underestimate his productions, to record his character dimension perhaps even more than his musical talent. And instead Holden, in a continuous rediscovery of himself and his audience, he leaves the scene with Strays And Hold me while you wait. Better at igniting curiosity about his post-Amici music than about his path, however hiding in fortunate lands, those which also welcomed his next EP Josephout May 24.

Midas, rating 6.5: Professor X

Professor X or Megamind of this edition, analyzes his next step every minute and moment, even if this means a premature exit from Friends. The workaholic world of Midas has only touched the public, not like the chorus of Que Pasa, ready to become the musical choreography of the summer. Spanish, the second most spoken language in the world, with 475 million native speakers, could be a key to accessing an immense door to his music.

Petit, rating 7.5: Carosone 3.0

He has repeatedly accustomed us to flights of fancy in the history of Italian music, almost translated simultaneously with his dictionary. This time too he tries with O’sarracino by Renato Carosone, effective in staging, less so in vocal performance. Compared to the other competitors in the race, we definitely know what he will do Petit in the near future: chart music. And he was born to do it. You’ll be back it is the unreleased song with the best performance of the evening for him, but when faced with Sarah Toscano’s fairy tale he can only succumb.

Sarah Toscano, vote 9: The hare and the tortoise
